B&Q is always a good bet if you ask me.

A lot of the stuff they sell is a bit shifty though BUT if you buy the premium stuff (the most expensive brand available for each item) you can't go far wrong.

As for taking the cabling across...

If it's permanent I'd buy some piping from your local plumbing supplies store and bury it - this way the cable will be protected from everything and should last forever (Y)

Wiring the plugs is as simple as stripping back the covering of your cable, to leave you with three inner wires... you then strip these back and put the corresponding colour into the points on the plug and crew them down tight.

All common sense really :S :D

What you need is...

Standard Triple Core Flex cable - Ten Pounds for 50m

I'm not 100% what your output is to be, I presume your not daft enough to try and wire straight to the mains - so heres what you should think about...

One standard 13A plug - 40 pence

One standard output socket - £1.74

EDIT: Tomm beat me to it! all of the above links are to items on screwfix direct - Just lazy links 'cause I was feeling helpful :)

Yep you are right but it was only affective from oct 2004 i think, so if you just say it has been there for years if anyone comes round and inspects it.

As for ways of doing it if you are taking it underground make sure you know where it is, theres nothing worse than your family doing a spot of gardening when you need the power most!

You can get cable in lots of places now, if you know what you are doing it might be worth taking some new cable from the fusebox and putting its own fuse in there, because of the weather conditions outside etc if it shorts out it will only take the fuse out rather than taking out all of what ever breaker you put it on... good luck, make sure you turn your power off before you add onto the circuits!!

I think he's just on about making a big-ass extension cord, basically. I.e. it just plugs into one of the sockets in the house? Maybe I'm wrong though :)
