Hey,

I really want to either get my lip or my eyebrow pierced but I’m really worried about looking like a penis :)

So, does anyone know of a site where you can like submit a picture and select a piercing at it will show you what you'd look like?

Bit of a long shot - but there could be one!

Alternatively, if anybody with good photoshop skills has some spare time, maybe they'd be able to put a lip and brow piercing onto me if i send them a piccy?

Cheers, Sam

Not 100% sure how good this pic is... but worth a shot!

I just realised that an eyebrow one might be a bit pointless on account of my hair!!

But if you could do a lip jobby that would be great... Maybe three different ones (on the left, right and in the centre) Is thats not asking too much! :)

did you wanna get a ring or a ball ? and In the centre of your bottom lip or to the side ?

I'm really not sure at all, I was hoping people would maybe be able to show me a couple of different styles and positions - being a bit cheeky really!

I'm a bit of a virgin when it comes to all this!

If you want to see what you look like with a lip piercing just get hold of a piercing ring and slide it over your lip. Much more realistic than any photoshop effort will be :)

I was hoping you'd post :) Sounds like a good idea - problem is i dont know any people who are likely to have one spare or whatever...

Could you get your mum/girlfriend/friend with no fear to venture into Claire's accessories (or similar) and buy one?

They can't be that much, can they? At a guess i'd say ~ £1 or so.

Maybe try a piercing shop and ask if they have a clip on one/spare one to have a go with?

Not sure how hot they'd be with the whole hygene thing, but it's worth a try?

 side, bottom lip, ring     f**king ace haha

I'd suggest that your best bet would be to go into your local piercing shop and get what is generally known as a 'captive bead ring' (or a 'ball closure ring' if you prefer).

Go for a reasonable diameter, say ~14mm, and a 1.6mm thickness.

[Too thin a ring and there is a danger you'll damage the piercing - either simply by cutting, or by explusion if you reject the piercing].

Take the bead out - you should be able to get it out without circlip pliers on this size of ring - and clip the ring over your lip - seeing how it will look is one thing, wearing it is something else entirely - you'll get a feel for how much it's going to bug you, by clipping off your teeth and stuff.

If it's too much, look at a labret stud, they will have a flat back to them (not a butterfly type fitting) and sit neatly against your lip. You can also get PTFE versions wich will be much easier on your teeth. They exit with a threaded bar, upon which you screw a bead.

Sorry to sound like your dad here- but if you do get it done, get it done at a decent piercing shop, not at a hairdressers, nor a high st jewlers, and don't go DIY...

If anyone looks like they are going to use a ear-piercing gun to do it, or if the studio doesn't look clean, just walk away.

Your mouth is chocked full of stuff to damage, and a bad piercing here is going to give you all sorts of problems.

Any decent piercer will use decent steel too, implantation stuff is 'harder' and has a much lower Nickel content than cheap rings, plus you'll get a ton of aftercare advice too - keeping it clean is important - salt water and clean hands is all you'll need though'.

You might like to try here initially, it looks like pretty good basic advice.

Then try here if you are feeling upto it.

Good luck.

::cut for readability::

This is all pretty sound advice. A Ball Closure Ring (or BCR) is pretty much what I meant above, as you said, when you take the ball out they just slide on. You can probably pick up a really cheap one from a market stall somewhere for a couple of quid, you can always put it in your ears or something afterwards (assuming they're pierced that is). But don't put a cheap one in anything that isn't totally healed.

You shouldn't have to worry about the size though, your piercer should measure you to work out what diameter you need for comfort. If they try and put anything other than a 1.6mm thick ring in though I would be pretty cautious of them.

Actually I'd reccomend getting a lip piercing done with a bar first. I had my bottom lip done with a ring first and it was really awkward to heal, every time I ate I was knocking the ring and knocking off the scabbing around the piercing. Which meant it was uncomfortable and needed cleaning a lot more regularly than it might otherwise have done. If I was getting it done again I'd definitely go with a bar until it was healed.

Does anyone ever try and do lip piercings with guns? That's awful! I know a lot of places use them for noses and upper ears (neither of which are a good idea) and I've heard of a few piercing tragus' with them, but I'd never heard of a lip piercing being done with a gun. What a horrible thought :o/

you getting this for yourself? or so other people think you are cool?

I know what your getting at, of course I'm getting it for myself, but the fact remains i don't want to look like a dick.

When I buy a pair of shoes and I'm on my own I look in the mirror and see if I like the look of them.

When I buy a pair of shoes and I'm with someone I look in the mirror and see if I like the look of them then i say 'what do you think' to the person I'm with.

Just one of those things.

Lip rings are seriously the most fun thing in the world to play with.

Best £20 I've ever spent.

Haha, yeah. Even if it looks shit, at least you can look like a spaz by continously playing with it with your tongue...
