Lawnmowerman
hahaha, atleast you tried. Was you hoping it would be as good as the megamo?
Stan Shaw
Was the frames disc mount faced up properly dave? Could make a difference. Also are you sure let it bed in fully! (Y) Nice one for trying it out anyway :( Stan.
rich4130
Hehe, yea a mate of mine runs a rear M4 (well he will do till I get him a proper brake sorted) and it slips for me on 3 pallets kicking up etc, useless.
Caleb
Mine works great on my jumps bike and even for trials moves, however wouldnt really be able to put it up to the same pressure as a trials due to the chain ring lol :">
JT!
The only time i would use a disk, is if i had a bike specificly for shitty muddy comps. They just dont have the power for anything else. :(
bluecatracingcat
You've gotta bed it in. drag the brake down the biggest hill you can find and repeat until it bites hard. Then tell me it sucks! Also make sure disc tabs are faced with hope tool

bluecatracingcat
Try EBC red pads. I've also taken to my rotor with a bench grinder and drill press to reduce the surface area (on my trail bike) but it makes a huge difference. Shaun H
Its been ragged about for 2weeks...........? ← Doing trials or did you do the hill method? If you bedded it in with trials it might not be even and that's why it's slipping. Can't hurt to try can it :(
N.Wood
Can't say i'm THAT suprised after using a Mini on the back of my bike for a few days. Were you using the 160mm rotor with it? I recon it'd be pretty good with a 185/203mm one. And maybe a Plazmatic rotor/ pads (if they make them to fit...hmm...) would improve performance. TomN
Hope M4 is beasty on the back, mate has one on his Orange Zero frame and still lasting him :(
DangerousDave
Most people who have tried rear disc don't use it long enough to really let it bed in. My avids probably took a month to bed in fully. But then my rear disc but was the best brake I've ever tried. By far. So I'd say if your gonna go rear disc prepare for a long break in period and use an avid
Vox
I have been ride rear XT disc for 8 month... An think that it's good choice for all conditions... it works perfectly, but i ruin my frame (2-3 times) and rear ChrisKing axile... so if u want to ride disk, you must have reinforeced frame and bolt-on hub. And go for marta, i think it's best choice for the rear...
011001000110010101110010
i love my hayes on that back, all the power you need and more.
tipsy Jock
Ahahahahahah! wouldn't listen to Grant would you?" lol. only brake worth trying on the back is an avid because of their adjustability and sheer power. Even then you'll be lucky to get it to hold like a maggie. Pete

Davetrials
i rode to work on it most days which is like 6miles Edited March 6, 2005 by Davetrials
thefletch
bedding in and using it for a while are a completely different kettle of fish, ur supposed to drag it for a bit, then dous(sp) it in water(a few times over) this clears the coating/top layer off the pads. In all honesty any disc brake thats set up write and bed in proply will work ok, some obviously have more power than others. Lastly if its rubbing then it will always be warm therefor f**king the pads.(hense why downhill discs have holes in the rotor to cool them down as they work wank when hot)
bluecatracingcat
i rode to work on it most days which is like 6miles ← Do you ride to work with your brake on? I ride to work too and I avoid using my brakes where ever possable as it just slows me down :)"
