Reading Into Films

Does anyone else read into a film, especially the war realted ones. Just curiuos as one of my uni courses is on geopolitics and how films can represent the politics of the world.

The james bond films are a good example of Cold war relations there sothers.

Films were made with like subliminaly messges, ideas, beliefs attatched. Must have something to do with media being a powerful tool for spreading messages or something along those lines.

Unfortunately yeah I do somewhat... Media studies, while being interesting, does mean that when you watch any film you over analyse it, in a technical way. Except maybe Team America...

Maybe more than analysing the polotics, I tend to drive myself mad with "What if this had happened instead" ideas...

I used to do it as i took film studies for A level. Almost all films do have meanings and hidden messages in them if you look hard enough. I had to study 1900s Soviet films for political context :S not fun.

Heh, that sounds like my idea of a good time!

I can be very analytical of films, as well as pretty much every other type of media. I seem to spend a lot of time drawing parallels between different narratives and pondering the social significance of plot elements.

I'm a lot worse with books, continually looking at the development of ideas and little inflections of language. I guess I'll always just be an English student at heart really :)
