Sam Nichols
A type of food dye has been discovered to cause cancer is lab tests... Huge list of products that are confirmed to have the dye in them. Heres the full ITV story... Heres the full list of foods... Scary shit, sam

Alexx
Hype Hype Hype They only have to recall this stuff to do the 'right thing'... the ammount of the colouring is SO SMALL that your increasing your risk of cancer about the same as if you go outside on a sunny day for 30 minuites... :(

Therefore the less often you expose yourself to this type of crap the less the chance of your dividing cells mutating.

The fact remains, going outside, smoking a cigarette, drinking a beer... they're all on the same 'cancer risk level' as this chemical. They have to recall it because it's a banned substance, the press play off the whole 'cancer scare' thing.
trialsking 55
i saw that on the news. they had to recall all the wouscester sauce.
Sam Nichols
Again Alexx, All these different things that have a chance of causing you to contract cancer may only be a very small chance that they'll do anything... BUT The more times we smoke ciggarettes the greater the chance that we MAY ocntract cancer, equally if we keep eating these foods the chances of us contracting cancer are again greatly increased. This meens that by recalling the foods thats just one extra thing we dont have to be worried about.

Dr. Nick Riviera
sorry to piss on your fireworks but i agree with alexx " cancer scare hype " just like the salmonella scare hype there was ages ago and almost all of the food on that list contains meat :-
Mark W
Yeah, we had to throw away about 15 cases of the 18-pack multipacks of Walkers crisps tonight at work. The thing is is that it was one batch of the flavouring that had the dye in, which is then divided out amongst other products, so again you're getting a tiny *tiny* percentage. Equally, it hasn't actually been proven that it does or will cause cancer in humans, in the same way you get people crying about people using mobile phones 'cos the radiation will microwave your brain, etc. It's not as big a deal as is suggested, but I guess it does show they could do with more stringent monitoring for food supply routes. Seeing as it was just one batch of produce that had the dye in, and they've had to recall everything that "might" have it, it's just a bit inefficient really. Same way that they now monitor animal movements to try and stop a food and mouth-style problem again, if they did it with food stuff like this wouldn't happen in the first place? N.Wood
I think i've eaten a fair amount of that stuff over the past couple of days (home alone = ready meals), so i'm gonna get cancer oh my god omgz!!111one.

UrbanPoet
So that's why ASDA wouldn't let us buy certain ready meals last night! I wanted my shepherd's pie! Oh well, just a classic example of scare-mongering, I certainly won't be losing any sleep over it...
Alexx
This meens that by recalling the foods thats just one extra thing we dont have to be worried about. ← If your that worried about one tiny chemical in a food you eat, slightly increasing your risk of a cirtain random condition you need to live life a little more, stop living off endless statistics and the press... ... the other day I read that drinking more water decreases red cell count and can lead to weekened imune system... etc etc, you can go on with this stuff forever. But yeah the press needs to calm down a bit.
Trebor
The other day I read that drinking more water decreases red cell count and can lead to weekened imune system Shit the bed, I drink about 3 - 4 litres a day :"> I hate this scaremongering kinda crap, has anyone seen the adverts for (I assume no-one's stupid enough to watch them) this program on Sky One, which covers the dangers of everyday things, I think it's called So You Think You're Safe. Example, the kitchen is very dangerous, or going on holiday, hate those kinda things . . . . Edit: My english is actually wank now, was going to re-word my post but really can't be assed. Tomm
Again Alexx, All these different things that have a chance of causing you to contract cancer may only be a very small chance that they'll do anything... ← I'm pretty sure he knows that. What he was saying was that it increased your chance of getting cancer by the same amount as if you went out in the sun for half an hour. It's pretty stupid though how they have to recall all the ready meals because of a trace of a possible carcinogen MAY be present. And yet the very same supermarkets still sell cigarettes with large quantities of 70 different known & proven carcinogens. :-
