Mark W
Well, do the hammer thing but use a bit of wood instead of a metal pole? Seriously, it's the easiest way. If it's new, it won't have probably been fully mashed into the frame anyway. Just poke a metal bar or a bit of wood down the headtube, and knock it with a hammer. You can start doing it gently, and move around the top of the inside of the cup. It'll come off easily enough. We managed to get my friend's Cane Creek headset out easily. Admittedly, I made a tit of myself at Onza by hammering my FSA Pig cup in half sending bearings everywhere. Good work, there...

nb88
LBS would be the best option as tarty said... i wouldnt really consider anything else as you want the headset to sell on, although i usually hammer mine out using a mallet and screwdriver (from the inside of the headtube). Matthews
Me and a mate had this exact same problem yesterday  Get your hands on a rather beef and long screw driver also find yourself a hamer or ruber malet. Put the hammer down the headtube so its up against the headset give it one wack , move the scew driver 90 degrees around the headset give it another hit move another 90 degrees and keep doing that until the headset pops out!! :- Edited February 6, 2005 by Team Matthews
