Siders77
Hey guys, I just want to know if it's possible to have a disc mount welded onto my Onza forks. If it is does anyone know where to get it done? I was thinking of asking Clive at Leeson if he could do it. Thanks for your help.
Dan Clark
Depends whether they are steel or alu. It would probably be just as cost effective to get new forks.
trialsking 55
you could but the tabs would probably pull off because the forks are alu and disc tabs put alot of stress on the forks and alu weakens quite abit when re-welded etc. and also getting them in the right place could be hard. EDIT: He rides a Mod...erm, not if they're steel (Y) Edited February 5, 2005 by N.Wood
Phatmike
I'm presuming they're the ones that come on the t-pro, type ones? Edit: (Which are steel) If so, clive could probably do it, won't cost too much. Just give him a phone. (Y) Mike. Mark W
Well, the T-Pro standard forks are cromo so it should theoretically be possible. I doubt Clive would do it - he's not happy putting disc mounts on his forks 'cos he reckons it weakens them too much, let alone putting them on another companies fork's? Either way, they'd probably be too weak. In the same way that "disc compatible" frames snap like kindling because companies just make a frame then buy an off-the-shelf disc mount and weld it on and break, the forks would do the same thing. Just save up a bit and buy some disc forks. Monty do some for £35-ish, so go for them? Mark.
Siders77
I was thinking of the Monty forks, Mark but it says something about them coming with a sloping stearer tube for the monty stem. Do you know if they will be okay to use on a normal stem? Thanks again (Y)
