Nick Garland
Hi I was running 16-14 = 1.14 and then decided to go to 16-13 = 1.23 What advantages are there of going to a higher gear?
JT!
You can get around faster. You won't need to more your feet as much to get the backwheel movement. Better for gapping / sidehopping, unless you make it too high geard. Better for pedal hops. :(
Fishwog
I find no advantage in a heavier gear, apart from wheelie gapping..... Sidehops, pedal gaps, blunts, etc, I all find easier with 20-17, than I did with 20-16 :( A lighter gear will also make your bike in general feel lighter.......imo. CurtisRider
if you ride alot of natural then a higher gear would be a disadvantage to you in general-well thats what i found anyway personnaly i find 22/18 a perfect gear ratio for all types of trials riding, altho i may try 22/17 to see if it helps at all (Y)"
TheMunn
altho i may try 22/17 to see if it helps at all It's a very good move to make, i have tryed both 22-16 and 22-18 and they are either too hard in some area's or to easy, but the 17t rear was perfect !
