for me it's just appears to be another above average bmx video of pretty average bmx riding.

Average riding? Id say it is about as good as any street ive ever seen.

i'm with you on that front for sure, park gets dull very quickly - im just getting sick of seeing people riding sheffield in the winter. the padded cell roadtrip ought to be a bit more interesting - i've not seen it.

It was filmed in summer and a lot of it isnt filmed in Sheffield.

I thought the video was awesome, can't wait until the proper video is out.

average in the world of bmx,

180s, 360s, barspins, tables, any grind variation bar nose pick overs, even whips, are all standard run of the mill street tricks these days.

nose manuals, backward manuals, wallride to 270 yeh fair enough, i've pissed myself, but the majority of the tricks in there weren't anything that special in the sceme of things.

by the way i am by no means a street god and i know i'll sound like i'm putting people down for shit i can't do that well, but on the whole, people who make a DVD can do all that shit easier than riding down the shops. It was a good promo, one of the best ever i agree, but the riding was definitely average, bar maybe 5 or 6 big lines.

EDIT: I guess it's just that I'm more into this sorta street stuff, as opposed to - say - that Tony W video. For me, that was tame as f**k. The same stock skatepark lines with the same music as another video (;)), it just did nothing for me. It's still just riding by numbers, just like all the 'big' skatepark riders are. No doubt someone would beg to differ with me on that though.

Having ridden most of the London spots featured (just so I can have a direct relation to them), doing a truckdriver out of that tiny moulded curb-cut Jersey does one out of is insane. I just got a 3 out of it, and that was sketchy - he got a clean truck. I know park riders can do them, but do park riders do them off tiny 3" high curbs, having just done a feeble->manual before it? No. No-one else does those tricks in places like those, and that's what makes them so good. Sending a 3 down a massive set of steps is different to sending one over a jumpbox or does a small stairset. Manuals to tailwhips off curbs are again pretty hard. Either way, they're doing all the park-rider tricks and more on the sketchiest of banks, trannies and just general places to ride, which is again what makes it so much better. You've got to be a better rider to do the tricks their doing where they're doing them, rather than learning them into foam then finding the right skatepark transitioned flatbank to do them...

Also, a large part of the reason that those tricks are 'common' is because these are the riders that inspired people to do them. For example, in Eddie Cleveland's interview in Ride, he listed Voices as one of his favourite videos, going to show that it's not just amateur riders who are emulating them, but "pro" riders too. You can even see how the top riders are doing the stuff the guys in Voices do, if you watch - say - Gary Young from before Voices to what he's doing now, it's different stuff.

You can say that "It's the same stuff as Voices", but that's the same as calling a beginner's trials video the same as Tunni's latest or something like that - they're the same guys so they're mostly going to be in the same places, doing similar-ish tricks, but that's because that's what they enjoy doing. Plus they're doing them way bigger and smoother now, hence 99% of the whips being done clean to pedals as opposed to toptube.

I love that 'tomorrow we work' video. Everything about it just ticks the boxes, and so did voices. I could watch voices over and over again and still be in awe of the riding, editing and great music used. They always seem to capture their vibe into it as well, being a load of chilled out guys, that love being creative on bikes.

I agree with finding street better to watch than park. I think when you watch a street video it always seems to come across as more creative than one filmed purely in parks (well to me it does), and i guess that is because they have to find the lines, and architecture and be creative with it thus producing some awesome footage. And it is the constant change of backgrounds that adds that bit more excitement into the video, rather than just looking at the same old skate park for 10minutes straight. I also think that for the majority of people they can relate to the riding better when it's street rather than park stuff, purely because everyone has seen a handrail and a big stair set or just some crazy architecture, and wondered at the possibilities that these can hold. Where as not everybody has rode lots of skateparks, or even seen many in some cases, so i think people get more inspired by street videos more than park ones, i know i do.

mark doing mark

i don't know if you are disagreeing with me or what?...cos i agree 100% with what you are saying, as it's pretty much what i've already said/tried to say regarding the promo.

-i agree the riding is mostly on another level, but for those riders, and many others who have released dvd's it is average. i.e all those lines/tricks are pretty much the standard in any street dvd you get these days.

-i am definitely a street lover and hold a higher respect for street riders than park riders. i hate the majority of park, although riders who can flow a good concrete park are as good as any other rider imo.

-i know it's f**king immense to be pulling whips off 3 inch kickers etc, but only to the average joe. those riders can pull whips up stuff i'm pretty sure, if they felt they wanted to.

i was only voicing my opinion on your original comment about that promo being great, because of the fact it had the voices riders in it. the fact it has those riders in it doesn't mean it's instantly amazing, it means it's more of the same*, which you were originally disagreeing with, but now you seem to agree?

same as regards to voices, which i see as probably the best street bmx dvd ever, but that is an old dvd now in regards to progression, and i would of expected the lads to have upped the anti if they are going to the effort of making a new one?

getting a bit heated innit?

Nobody said the promo was shit. Just that there wasn't anything particularly new or different about it - in the way that (for example) the T-1 world tour video or fly-uno are a bit unusual (with the exotic locations, improv with shovels and/or pallettes etc. and dare i say it, a little comedy).

anyway, bollocks, I'll still be stealing it when it comes out
