Frenchman
hey guys. Prawn knows too much about mini's i rebuilt his mini with him. we were like a little team. Me the bodywork side, Prawn the mechanical. Brisa, your best bet is to get something in kit form Hi-lo's so you can alter the ride hight of your car, a set of lowered shock absorbers (front and rear) GAZ shocks are highly recomended. and a full negative camber kit with polyurethane bushes. This is a pretty faultless combination and will make your alreaddy well handling mini stick to the road like it was on tracks. The best people to contact is m.e.d engineering as they do this kit complete for £350 and they are renowned for top quality products. m.e.d engineering The kit isnt available online but the number is there so give them a ring and talk it through with them. God i love the mini!! Let us know your budget because there are cheaper options out there. cheers frenchman
Brisa
That is a bit high price wise, Around £200 would be better if thats possible. I will look into that one though. thanks a lot (Y)

dirtbiker
Hehe, that one looks a bit poorley. I took mine for an MOT today, failed on rear fog light not working, split steering rack gaiter, front shock absorber, rear brakes not satisfactory (footbrake and handbrake :S) and exhaust blowing. Managed to pick up a new shock absorber (£3!) and a gaiter this morning so i should be able to book a re-test for later this week.

The radiator was below minimum so I filled it up, all was good untill the next day when it did the same again. Took it back to the garage on Wednesday 20th suspecting a problem the cooling system or [my biggest worry] the headgasket... The garage didnt really keep me up to speed with what was going on and I kept having to ring them up to find out what was going on. All I was told was that if it was the headgasket it would take around 1 week to fix. Found out Saturday 23rd it was the headgasket and it would be fixed as soon as a part had come from Peugeot. The repairs were completed last night and I went there straight after work today to pick it up. The garage have fitted a new Headgasket and also did the cam belt free of charge (Y)

RyanRs
Escorts are shit, no matter what sped, there still escorts. ← What a looser. and what 'probable pile of crap' do you drive then? I own a escort GTi P reg and i have modifyed it MYSELF, and it pisses over most cars, and now gives Rs-Turbos a good run for there money. it sounds amazing, not just a noise like most Boy racer cars, it spits 4ft flames out of the exaust, the throttle response is instant, the power is instant and it loves being thrashed. i have never drove a more 'Lively' Naturally aspirated car... heres some of the preformance mods i have done (Myself!) (engine is a 1.8 16v Zetec-E, NON turbo) Gas Flowed head (well this was done at CHD) Ford 130 Ps spec high lift Cams Adjustable vernier pullys 2litre Mondeo throttle body 2litre Mondeo Airflow sensor De-Cat pipe Full stainless Magnex exaust system K&N filter Magnacore Competition leads Modified ECU (but im waiting for a Superchips Daughterboard) Custom made gearbox with a Xr3 1.6 Ratio Final Drive gear Rs-Turbo Limited Slip Differential Koni 'Yellow' suspension B+F with adjustable dampening 30mm drop Front Strut Brace Rs2000 Rear disk brakes and beam. 150 BHP (wheels) 165 Bhp (Flywheel) (Std 105Bhp wheels) -0-62mph 6.8 sec, top speed 148MPH ! I think this car is amazing, being as the RS Cosworth YB 2ltr T35 Turbo has 205 BHP and 0-62 in 6.4 sec. -i have also changed the body work and interoir, but im not gona go into detail with them. My insurance Full comp is £600, i am 22 3yrs NCB and the car to buy and modify has cos me around £5,000 So MC-Bolo, find me a car that can go like mine, turn heads like mine and still be cheap to insure and cost less to buy without loosing any quality. -Bet you cant. And as for loosing power through transmisson, yes you do, but how much exactly depends on the car, quality of parts and wear. and being as it has new of Everyting transmission wise, and the flywheel has been balanced, there is minimal power loss. I have dyno papers to prove the hp, they were done november last year.. ill dig them out and scan them in next time im at my mates house as i dont own a scanner. the 0-62 was done with a stop watch, yes i no, its not anywhere near the most accurate way of doing it, but my speedo is very much in sync and unless your a retard and hesitate or have a nervous twitch prior to slicking 'Stop' it must be accurate + - 1 second. and top speed times wer done by raggin it next to me mates MR2 Turbo down the medway drag. (M20) I am geting rid of this car to purchase a imported Mr2 Turbo Rev3 soon, its been madley upgraded to run 350 BHP, full veilside kit, 60 in under 5 seconds 175mph +(PROVEN), my insurance is £800 full comp for this to which is amazing. JTM
0-60 time is defo bollocks Since Ive had a Escort for 4 months Ive been part of a escort forum and have gotta to know quite alot. While your Bhp figure at the flywheel sounds correct, as mentioned ^^^ it wouldnt give 150bhp at wheels. And that 0-60 is defo bull. Your talking 8.5 seconds AT BEST
