tank_rider
I was a bit dubious at first what with msn's attempt at allowing conversations through messenger being quite frankly shit. However i was persuaded and now love it. WWW.SKYPE.COM Is simple to use, free and allows funky features like using whatever audio file you want for a ring singnal too (Y) An easy way of chatting to mates without the cost of a phone call (assuming you aren't on pay as you go net access!!) Dai the Socket
Ok, so i've downloaded it, and signed up, and got onto it but it wont let me ring my house phone. what do you have to do? Can you ring mobiles or what? Or ring your mates' home phones or have they got to sign up for Skype too and be online?
Tartridge
have they got to sign up for Skype too and be online? ← Yup. Or you can buy credits and ring 'normal' phones.
JT!
So why is it better than msn?
Tartridge
So why is it better than msn? ← If youve ever tried to use the chat thing on MSN, and made a phone call, you'll understand the difference.
JT!
If youve ever tried to use the chat thing on MSN, and made a phone call, you'll understand the difference. ← No, i mean the audio convosation on msn. Is it worth having another program open all the time?
Tartridge
If you've ever tried to use the audio conversation on MSN, and you've used a telephone, you'll realise theres a difference. MSN audio conversation is crap, yes? Telephone is quite good, yes? Well Skype is like a telephone...
ScotchDave
Why not use 18866, free calls to landlines any time, for nothing but the connection charge. (N)"
froggy
I use that it's well good, better than msn microphone chat, theres no static. Ventrilio is good to, more for gaming though.

delusional
I use skype at the moment, and while it's good I'm still rather dubious of it. The problem I have (other than the shitty client) is that skype is currently a closed network, which is a little limiting really. If/when skype opens their servers, or connects to other voip networks I'll be less dubious. Besides, all the things that are good about skype are really nothing to do with skype, it just happens to be an acccessable voip client. It's voip which is the good thing :)
