Right, in the FAH log, it says:

Completed 62500 out of 250000 steps

And that's after a few days, is that how many steps you and Phase had in total?

Mine just works on frames?

Each work unit is 400 frames. Once these 400 frames have been worked on, they are uploaded back to the site, and a new set are downloaded. Mine took about a day and a hlaf to complete 400 frames.

I'm not really sure what the steps are. You'll have to ask the Phaze-meister, seeing as he was the one that introduced us to it all, he's bound to know more than me

Ok, I've had a read and the protein I'm folding (RIBO_FSpeptide_EXT) has 100 frames but is worth 600 credits probably because it has 84665 atoms.

I'm happy now, I've got 70% to go, although I'm probably being way too competitive with this!

I give up, on my main XP system it just corrupts my taskbar - the tooltip things that pop up are all jumbled and sometimes show the wrong items text when you hover! Also doesnt like my games... and like magic as soon as I close it then everything is fixed!

Might finish off this unit then quit, about 15 frames left, whatever that means, woo

Gah. We suck.

I am however top of the league  :P (Ignore the fact that there's only 2 people in it so far :P)

I'm not at the top, as I'm folding BIG projects - there's a little check-box in the Options, which says something about downloading/'sending files bigger than 5Mb. This means the amount of "Work Units" I do is less :S

Yer, that's what I'm doing :S Although it is taking aggggggges.

I was thinking about installing/running it but hows it affect cpu temps?

my athlon xp 2600+ is running at a steady 50 degrees C with it running, ill stop it for a bit and see what its like when stopped :S.

EDIT: Its resting at 45 now, so about 5 degrees difference.

The difference between 5% load (rarely do you use 100% for longer than a few seconds) and 100% load. It's a very good stress test for you overclockers out there...

Mine runs at 32'C (XP2400+ @ 200x11 @ 1.85V) under load.....

....... how?.....

...... Water cooling :(

I finished off my first chunk then quit. Its a load of crap basically - it isnt realistically going to reveal much information about anything, its of no interest to me, it screws up my desktop and programs when I run it and as you say will make the pc run hotter and more strenuosly, shortening the eventual life of my pride and joy!

Not sure if this has been said before on another page, but suposebly, doing this is suposed to shorten the life of your pc... Just thought i'd point that out (Y). Ive been using it for a good week or so now, pritty cool.

Since when does it shorten the life of your computer significantly? Your CPU has a maximum temperature at which it can safely run at.

My AthlonXP 2400+ can safely run at 85'C, I believe (although I'm NEVER going to let it get there!) as recommended by AMD. They warranty the CPU for 3 years, and assume that your CPU is running 100% 24/7/365 @ maximum 85'C.

Since you're CPU is not at 85'C (or there abouts....), theoretically, the CPU will last longer..... longer than the warranty.

I've had my CPU for 3 years now - overclocked to 200Mhz x 11 1.85V (2.2Ghz), when it should be at 133Mhz x 15 @ 1.65V (2.0Ghz). It has been running for months 24/7, mostly at 100% (folding annonymously).....

Basically, you have nothing to worry about.

  • 3 months later...

i did it for a while as you can see, i should still be top of the board, might shove it back on my media pc, but im not too keen on pushing my work pc to 100% all the time as its overclocked massively.

Just looked at the team stats and it appears ive been knocked off top spot. Still done the most units though (N)

I still use mine, i forgot i had it :"> its one of those things that just fades into the BG.

I did use it on my work PC for a while but i noticed that when working with either sql or superBASE indexing, searching or doing a simple select key takes it, it seems to lag the hell out of them. So i removed it.

My home PC is broke at the moment too so i haven't been 'folding' as much as i should.
