Pads: Koxx Browns

Time Used: One month

Rim used: Try-All

Grind: Yes, Medium/Light

Booster: Nah

Brake used: Magura, factory bleed, standard lever, standard tpa...

Previous used pads: Koxx Brown, Echo Red, Zoo old and new, Adamant, Plazmatic Spanish Fly, Echo New compound, Plaz CRM, Rimjam V3, Rimjam Blue, Phat pads, Heatsink Reds, Heatsink snowies, Heatsink coust, Onza citrus, Koxx Yellows, Rock Blues,...

Review: The most beautiful brake I've ever used. Fact.

This is with a factory bleed, and standard everything... I normally hate oil bleeds to death and run Echo '08 levers for more leverage.

So, got my new bike from Tarty (thanks tarty) with Koxx Brown pads. Ali set the brake up, amazingly. The pads took about 10 minutes to bed in, after that and constantly they have been making a beautiful woosh-peep noise (not angry honk, or annoying squeak) and have worked fantastically without fail for lots of pretty hard riding sesh-iz.

I'm never using anything but koxx pads again for the foreseeable future.

The phat pads in cnc backings were good, don't get me wrong. But the savagely ear abusing noise got to be a bit, and they did need a sharp grind if you wanted any hold at all, and any dust (from oxford stonemasons for example) made them go to shit very quickly. Unlike the koxx pads. They also work just as well in the wet, keep the woosh noise, just loose the peep.

Pads: New zoo pads in CNC backings

Time used: Around a week

Rim used: Echo 07

Grind: No, rim was straight out of the box, never seen a grinder in its life.

Brake used: Echo lite forks with rear mounts, magura hs33 with original bleed(straight out of box), no booster, smooth echo 07 rim, NO TAR.

What is your opinion of a working brake: One which will instantly stop me and keep me stationary

How do they compare to previous pads you have used: Very good considering that I am not using tar or a grind.

Review: Very good pads if set-up square to the rim, Has quite alot of bite, they hold very well, also have abit of noise which I like there to be.

are you using a maggie or a vee? :S says your using a vee but then you say its got a factory bleed and echo lever :S

and my phat pads worked in any conditions, even in mud..

Same. My phat pads work in anything. Was pissing down, like proper raining other day. Brake was still well loud and hold was still good :S

My phat pads held when i went for a tap, and i was literally as brick down from the top. And i cant grind for shit.

Is it just me or is Trialstube dead at the mo? :(

Yeah its well and truly...

Uploading to vimeo as we speak.

Vimeo.

At this point I'll point out its not a masterpiece and I'm not doing anything insane, but one can tell from the noise that they are somewhat shit hot.

(Y) I don't get the craving for loud brakes :(

I use to think a loud brake was one that worked! but when I had vee brakes there wasnt much noise, only when something bad was going to happen!

Not I prefer a working brake thats not as loud! but noise is nice, but not a loud honk, more swwooosh! Koxx pads are very good. Iv never tried browns though! Only greens twice and reds! Greens are good though! Blues and yellows are yet to be tried! Have some heatsinks clear thingys in my garage ready to be wacked on, frames yet to be shotblasted!!!!! BEEN THERE 3 WEEKS!!
