But i think the pros outweight the cons really, i'll most likely end up getting it. It's either that, the fit hawk, sputnic salelight or Supers*** Light My Fire Frame but i'm definately leaning towards the Inertia.

Remember they are pegless frames.

Where did you see that? :S The only thing Alans says about pegs is: 'Plenty of peg clearance and the axle slot is long enough to actually allow you run the gear ratios you want to and tighten your chain to fit.'

And like poopipe says they have a pegs rider on their team riding it and have obviously considered it and stuff.

Cheers, Max.

what poopipe also says is that after a month riding there's a fair bit of peg damage - still, compared to the other frames in your list it's hardly a wuss. I wouldn't run pegs on any of them.

Just to clarify, the New Deal is Superstar's pegless frame. The Light My Fire is peg run-able.

:$

oo, got mixed up on the superstar ones then :)

and Dan, lime green is the new raw

possibly.

where are my tyres? I paid an extra 50p for next day delivery

edit:: tyres arrived on time - apologies to custom riders

Looking to buy/order a BMX on Friday. Not going to lie. I don’t have the first clue when it comes to BMX’s. Wanting to spend in the region of £350 for the complete bike. Could possibly push further if anybody feels i can get a far better bike for a small amount over my budget.

Problem is I am over 6"3" and so would need a long frame I guess? I want to do all aspects of BMX and have never ridden BMX before, so something easy to learn on would be preferable.

Please help!!

there's plenty of decent bikes to be had for that sort of money (well, more like 400) - look at we the people, dk, hoffman and even eastern. not sure if the mirraco completes are out yet but they'll probably be pretty good too.

just don't buy a anything unless the frame and forks are full cromoly

frames aren't all that expensive (£200 ish as a general rule - unless you buy american), there are a lot of very good offers on at the moment and I can't see that changing so it might be worth getting a complete with good parts and swapping out the frame a few months down the line if you find it too short - you'll probably want a 21" toptube and that might be a tricky to find on a complete.

I was recommended this by a friend, for the money it looks great, and has a chrome rear rim which from what I understand gives better braking. I have also been told by a friend that I should get s&m 'slam' bars on more or less any complete i go for as they are very wide for bmx bars and so would feel better for a larger rider. Let me know what you think, and link me to another few possible bikes too if you know of anything better. Thanks for the info poopipe, very useful (Y)

I wouldn't go near them as they are n00bs and so forth. Also if it was me i wouldn't buy it. Another bike trying to be too much for too little. If you know what i mean. It does seem so-so though. On the Slam Bar front, they are tall at 8" and are really wide. This may/ may not help you.

But you know people always say about CLS riding mod even though he's tall the same applies for bmx. If you ride nicely theres no reason for your back to over ache/ hurt.

I wouldn't avoid a bike just because it doesn't have enormous fashion bars regardless of how long my arms were.

that hoffman looks alright but you might be able to find something with a cassette hub on the back for not a lot more money. 13 tooth freewheels seem to blow up pretty easily and a new cassette hub will cost you about £100 by the time it's built into a wheel

like eskimo I wouldn't buy from that shop - somewhere like Alans so they actually know what they're talking about would be wiser.

I actually saw that bike in the flesh today at a lbs, it looks amazing quality for the money. Is it just the brand that is more beginner oriented? or do they have a reputation for being poor bikes? This will after all be my very first BMX so im not looking to have the best bike possible. Just something that I can learn to ride and progress on. It’s just hard to find a bike with a 21" top tube as a complete for sub £400 with a decent spec. My choices are kind of narrowed down by what I need in the bike.

If you can recommend anything else to me, please do, need as much input as possible so I spend my money on something good for me (and that I wont get laughed at on :P)

Thanks :)

Yea, I’m just finding it hard to stay within budget, yet get an all round decent spec, I probably will end up buying online, because as you say, they are BMX specialists so I’ll get better info from them, and better aftermarket care too. Im fully prepared to upgrade in the near future because almost any complete bike comes with something that could be a load better. In this case, as you say, the freewheel is a bit crap. But the bike as a whole does seem nice and well made. But with next to no BMX knowledge, it could be completely crap. Really need some bike suggestions from someone so I can get a list of possible bikes :) The help so far has been great though.

hmm

the mirraco completes are out now. disappointingly you don't get a cassette hub on any of the sub £500 models but otherwise they look pretty sweet, might well be worth a look .

I've always liked the DK 4 pack for some reason

How about this? Seems to tick most boxes at the price i'm looking at. http://www.extreme-direct.co.uk/bmx/bmx-bi...stern/36572.php

I didn't mean Haro were n00bs but bmx shop. Damn them and all the others.

[edit] fogot about the bike. looks alright. depending on what cranks and hubs they like to give you that is.

That eastern has fancy new cranks according to winstanleys (I read winstanleys site for descriptions and then go somewhere else to buy (Y) )

it looks like a decent enough deal to me - cassette hub, cranks look okay - not sure I hold with this drilling slots in the seattube business but feckit - if the frame breaks you just buy a new one, its not like they're expensive.

Anyone read the new stuff about the Eastern ti reaper and the kink frame. Apparently made in taiwan so shouldn't cost like £400!

How are those new parts? The pictures are a little dark to make out.
