assuming you're making pretty much exactly 180 degrees - not over or under by much

land on both wheels at the same time - landing on the back makes it way harder

as soon as you land be ready to pedal back

keep arse low and hanging back a fair bit - not enough to raise the front but getting that way, make sure your legs are nice n loose

don't turn your head - keep looking in the direction you came from, i find looking at my stem helps

if you're tipping over sideways you're probably going too slow or you're not landing quite vertical which you can solve by going a bit faster into it and turning your head to face the way you came about halfway through the spin - so you're not spotting the landing.

if you're going too fast, use pedal pressure to slow yourself down .

it might be worth taking it to a quarter to get the hang of rolling fakie at speed cos it takes the 180 out of the equation

Why that order? The Collapse last, how come?

So where can i get one of these 410HX ones from?

The 510HX has some bad reviews and i don't like snapping chains.

The Collapse, both on my trials bike and my BMX, has been the worst chain I've ever used. I didn't even join my BMX one (used the split-link), and it developed 5-10 stiff links within a month. It also rusted instantly, despite my bike not going near water of any kind, and felt like shit. If I was going to be gay I could say they're heavier too (at least I think they are?). On my trials bike, it was the same again - loads of rust and stiff links, and I seem to remember snapping mine, although it could be I took it off before that happened just because I hated it so much.

Anyways, the 510HX is the only chain I haven't snapped yet, so I rate them pretty highly. It's the only chain my brother Dan hasn't snapped too, and he ran his last one for 2 years. Mine was about a year old when I changed it too, I think. They're just super good, and just over a fiver, which is pretty frickin' good.

Mr. Pipe - kudos for you to providing comedy at the DJ ride yesterday when DJ's mum Sue had to shout out your name when she was looking for people who pre-ordered t-shirts. I laughed. Anyway, regarding pacey rollbacks, if you're going too fast, just put some pressure on the pedals and get ready for the hub to re-engage. Do one full pedalstroke back with you using it to slow down, then just dis-engage the hub again? If you do stuff along the lines of that you can control your speed pretty well, and if you go with it, you don't get flung off the back when you have to backpedal again. Think: Mike Aitken.

To the other guy asking about rollbacks, contrarily to Mr.Pipe, I find that keeping my weight fairly centred (or slightly forward) on my bike works best. It means you're most in control, whereas if you're hanging off the back you've got to work more to preload for a half- or full-cab, manual, hop or switch out. If you keep your upper body in the same place and just let your bike go where it wants to (to some extent, obviously), then it usually works itself out. By keeping your balance, you make the bike stay balanced (Y)

oh, right.

I'll have to learn to react a bit quicker when the engagement comes on those speedy rollbacks - I'm still a bit panicky at that sort of speed cos I can't really turn to see where I'm going yet.

I might give the weight further forward thing a rag, my snapouts can get a little wild at times and that probably goes some way to explaining it.

people keep mentioning this balance thing - I don't have that, I can do momentum combined with blind hope, are they similar in any way?

I do want one of the t-shirts, I didn't realise you had to go to the ride to get one - maybe I should pm Sue and pay postages.

You didn't have to go to the ride, it was just that they had a list of people who'd ordered online and wanted to get the t-shirts to whoever was at the ride, it was just that no-one went forward when she asked so she had to stand on a skip and shout out usernames. I hope someone was recording it :P

:D going backwards was the one thing I was fairly good at.

It's all screwed now I've got the freecoaster of course - I can either roll back for miles or I fall off as soon as I hit the ground, there doesn't seem to be anything in between.

sod it though - going backwards is cool but going backwards really f**king fast is so much cooler I don't care if I only manage it half the time

oh - get those smiths on, it's the only truly manly grind you can do away from a handrail (except toothpicks but they're just dangerous)

It was just that I got that first go, 'cos it wasn't hard, whereas the half-cab to opposite wallride shenanigans took me a few goes, and was a harder trick. Got loads more shit done too that didn't go in the video, but apparently we're making a Style43 video with a bunch of sections from different people, so I'll probably go back and get some more stuff then when it's filmed properly...

Are Hoffmans any good? (I think they're fairly good, but when i first got into trials i thought missions were good) I think the geezer said Hoffman Pro?

It's black, pretty decent condition, not sure about it though, saw it a couple of months ago as his daughter was on it, then yesterday he offered me it for 50 quid... I don't think it's stolen, even though he has just come out of prison and looks pretty dodgy, lol.

Might get into BMXing, dunno if i have the strength/skill to do all the shit that the decent people do though.

Well, i had a quick go on it when his daughter had it, wasn't too bad, don't think the brakes were too good though.

I dunno if i'll be getting it though, depends if i can get the dorrah together, if i manage to get a job in the next couple of weeks i'll deffo get it (as long as i can afford it).

My worry is that i can barely pick up a trials bike (trying to bunny hop or w/e).

I'll have to come to poopipe land and learn the way!

brakes can be improved (read removed), bmxs are easier and more fun to ride than trials bikes if you ask me.

if you actually want to get good you're better off visiting eskimo or OBM (bongo's still knackered but he can probably outride me one legged so that might be worth a go).

Sweet, looking forward to it. As for my camera situation, i haven't got a fisheye/wide angle lens yet so some of the stuff doesn't look very good. I mean the filming is too close up to the rider. But i've got some alright stuff, pretty much things that i can go back and do which is alright.
