eskimo
Just another quickie!URRMMMHow high up can I have the seat tube ? Due to long distance traveling... need it to be higher....What do you mean? So it doesn't bend or break on you?I guess that's what you mean. If it is a named seatpost it could well possibly have a minimum insertion mark on it. If not try and keep it in about 2". If your only sitting down on it, it will be safe enough. Mark W
So it at least goes past the mid-point of the top-tube. The further in after that, the safer it is for your frame. I just stand up and pedal everywhere so I'm probably not much help though...
Sponge
Package arriving tomorrow:Contents:1x Mutiny HoldFast 20.6 1x FSA Impact 1x Odessa Barcelona DVDMmm, the living room shall be occupied tomorrow evening. Cox and Bedford shredding Barca... yeaahh (show-off over)Question time! Is Winstanley's fairly notorious amongst shops? After paying the rest of the money for my Holdfast earlier today, the guy at Half-Pipe was going on about how bad a reputation Winstanleys had amongst customers and other shops. Stating stuff about them not actually having all the stock in, whilst slashing over 50% of prices purely to try and get ahead of the game so they get millions of kids buzzing them when they acutally don't have that particular item for at least a month.^Clever clogs? Or just plan cunning? (Looking at it from another shop's point of view, it is the latter)
Mark W
He's kinda telling the truth. Winstanleys will say they've got stuff in when they haven't just to stay ahead of the game. Saying that, they've usually been half-decent with me, but I've heard plenty of horror stories about them not sending stuff out for forever, if at all.But yeah, thinking hard about getting a Holdfast... It is a shame, since their prices are so darn good .Holdfast again Mark? What's gotten you into one again? I swear your Parkinson is still pretty brand new! . However, 4mm dropouts do sound a bit dodgy, even for a micro-peg rider. Hmm, perhaps, meh, it's all good. I am rather dubious about the thin dropouts too myself, perhaps a Nocturnal would have been better for me... (too late anyway, but I couldn't be happier about mine )Anyone seen the Odessa Bacelona DVD here? just out of curiousity?
nickyw
It took around 2 weeks for my guesset wheel to come from winstanleysbmx.
poopipe
kinda bmx related....How powerful are U brakes? more or less than vees? (on a grind with decent pads). Would an avid lever with the speed dial have the correct amount of cable pull? Can U brakes fit 2.5" tyres? and if I were to move the mounts out to fit a 47mm rim, would the upper arms foul each other when pulled?I would like a U brake on the trials bike you see, theres no noodle or bent cable around the back for dirt and grit to get in. I am thinking its VERY unlikley a u brake will fit, but hey, you never know!A well set up U is probably not as powerful as a well set up V. Lever wise they don't work very well with a long pull lever but you could probably overcome that with some cunning jiggery-pokery. I doubt you'd be able to wrap them round a 2.5" tyre comfortably though - perhaps try some of those mini V brakes instead if you want clearance these for example

Mark W
The Sinister's gonna be £70 posted, or £60 collected from London, or some other location if we choose one. Comes with a 22mm Mutiny Mid BB installed, but NOT the seatclamp any more 'cos I'm gonna need that if I get the Holdfast. The Mid BB's not running super smooth, but it's still working and you can't really feel it when you pedal or anything Parkinson's 21" TT, 13.7" (slightly shorter than regular frames, all good!) CS, integrated seatclamp, integrated headset, comes with a 22mm Macneil installed which is only a month old, or however old the frame is. Baby blue, and lovely. Probably be after £90 posted or £80 collected for that. I know you can get them new for £95 now, but if you add on £20 for the Macneil BB then you're getting a bit of a deal to be fair...
