Tapered inspired forks in a comp frame

I’m seeing all new gen forks being referred to as tapered 

 

are they ALL 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 now?

 

I have some inspired tapered forks i want to run in a comp frame but is the like of a crewkers ect the only one I can run it in?

Generally if a frame or fork is referred to as tapered then it's a  1 1/8" to 1 1/2", apart from Jitsie who for some reason use 1 1/8" to 1 1/4".

The main difference between the Inspired forks and say a set of Crewkerz or Clean comp forks, is the axle to crown length and the offset. The Inspired forks are a bit longer at 415mm rather than the 405mm of the Clean/Crewkerz forks. and the offset is 30mm rather than 35mm.

I ran tapered forks in a  1 1/8" integrated headset frame with an external lower cup, so that would open up the number of frames you could run them in.

What frame did you want to use the forks in?

Just something to consider, street forks with an additional lower cup + integrated headset frame would mean an extra tall front end, slacker head angle and higher bb. In a typical comp geo that might start to feel a bit funny, depends on the bike and your geo preferences of course. Smaller fork offset adds to the height too although very minimal.

Also longer axle to crown measurement (including added lower cup height) = more stress for the head tube junction in gaps to front or hooks. Probably something the frame was not designed for.

But luckily Damon's not going to put that much stress on the bike, right? 😃
