saracenrobb
Are standard black pads ok for medium grinds? Or what are a good cheap pad for grinds, or are expensive pads the only way , ( tnn/cousts e.g ) .
La Bourde
I recommend only trial specific ones, even with medium grinds. The best ones I had were some orange ones from Crewkerz. I liked the feeling a lot and the wheel never skipped. I have some Coustellier and I think they are not as good. Maybe they are too old (got them with an used bike), but they sometimes do not hold as the Crewkerz. I had also some Jitsie/Tr1al: they were not too expensive, quite loud but very powerful. I Iike them a lot, but after riding for a few months with, a part of a pad broke (one third of it). Maybe bad luck.
saracenrobb
Thank you La Bourde for your opinion on it. I'll look into it
Alex Dark
I’ve only really had good results with Coustellier pads. Everything else I’ve tried has had a catch…. Good , but needs a sharp grind, good , but won’t work in the rain etc.

Not bad luck, I am afraid many have had the same issue...
cwtrials
Yeah, any pad is better than OEM maguras. But I've used original cousts for years and years with no issues. Edited August 5 by cwtrials

Aren't these Jitsie/Tr1al just for smooth rims or not?I am using them for smooth ones and they hold well(but i am beginner).

I meant the black ones (not the blue race ones). They are for light to medium grinds according to trial-world.de but "smooth rims in dry conditions, but is also suitable for light grinds" according to tartybikes. On the Jitsie website, they mention "works best with grinded rims". I had good results on light to medium grinds. But maybe that is the reason why one part broke.😆 I think they wear faster than my Crewkerz or Coustellier pads. The price is amazing tough.
