ogre
I dont trials anymore, im a road bike nerd with a bit of mtbing, but ive been playing with waxed chains. I know trials chains get replaced often, but you could do several chains in a batch if you wax melted, or drip feed them. Theres just the benefit of no oil landing on your rim or disc rotor, and your drivetrain can stay clean and reduce the wear on chainrings. Is anyone trying this currently? I appreciate its probably an unnecessary extra step but now I've played with it, if i still rode trials I'd probably apply it.
Chakers1998
I do this with speed wax that I use for my road bike chains. I hate chain oil. It makes working on the drive train so much easier when you don't have to treat the chain like it's radioactive.
trialsalot
I use a drip wax, Smoove to be exact. Slighty warm the bottle in my pocket, warm the chain up and drip it on. Leave overnight and it's sorted. Tried the wax bath version but prefer this instead. Haven't used chain oil for years now.
Sam Song
I am going to bump this thread. Anyone doing this for their trials bike? How often do you have to redo it? Do you recommend hotwaxed chain for trials bikes?

stirlingpowers
When I still rode single speed, I just cleaned the factory-lubricated chain with a dry cloth, and ran it mostly dry.
