La Bourde
Hi, Recently I bought a new HS33 brake that came with Echo calipers. I never used this brake, I was just looking for some lever spare parts. I have to bleed a rear brake and I was thinking, that I can replace the Magura calipers with these Echo calipers. Are the Echo calipers better than the Magura original ones? Or do you recommend the Magura's ones? Thanks for you recommendations.
Canardweb
Echo's calipers are shorter to reduce the clutter at the cranks' ends. I would recommend Magura's as they are in my experience flawless. Never had experience with Echo's so can't really tell...
Target
Echo calipers are more compact than Magura, so the chances to get into situation when your cranks are rubbing the calipers are lower. Echo calipers are also a bit lighter. The only downside is a reliability. All Echo calipers I've used lasted for about a year or two. Then they either started to leak, or the cylinders were getting stuck and had troubles with returning to initial position. Personally, I prefer Echo calipers because of their compactness and weight. But I totally get why some people hate them, Magura calipers seem to last longer. Anyway, both calipers are fine, you will hardly notice any difference. La Bourde
Thanks guys. Reliability is really important to me. I think, I will stick to magura.
Szymon
I had an Echo and they started leaking. No problems with Magura. Echo are actually lighter and shorter.
Chakers1998
I've had both leak, but Echo were by far the worst. Great for crank clearance though.
La Bourde
Did you bleed them with maguras oil or something else?
