Required stats to make a UCI final?

I'm curious, what is a rider looking at if they want to make a final in the World Cup these days? Obviously loads of technical skill, but what're the power numbers?

Back in the day (2008)... it was around a 52" side hop, 56" tap, 63" hook, and a 9ft flat static gap to rear.

So, what do you need for side-hop, rolling ups, hooks, and level static gaps now?

60”+ sidehops , if you count going to front wheel (we al know from two wheels to two wheels is the only real sidehop)

No more taps allowed, too aggressive and cool looking- they do an uber gay move up to front, around 15 feet high.

Also no more gaps to rear allowed , only to front- extra points when they take one foot off and dangle it like a disjoined limb for weight balance.  I’d consider it a five but thats what gets all the hits  on insta

Do you still need to wear spandex with skirt-like shorts?

In all seriousness I am curious how the sport has progressed. I heard Kenny Belaey say in a podcast that it is like power-lifting now. That you can't do well without training with weights. Technical ability is massive, but without the power the sections are just impossible.

I'd say that is basically the case now. It's the same as the peak of any other sport I guess, you don't just get there by doing the one thing but by doing other things that help supplement it. I imagine doing some kind of gym work would also help out a lot for preventing injuries too. It's not really about just getting 'big' though - as an example, Carthy does gym work alongside riding and he's not exactly body builder physique.

It seems like a lot of WCs now are somewhat static power moves, but generally to front or to hook. The level of tech in them now is crazy. The last World Cup was livestreamed and can still be viewed on YouTube, so it'd probably be worth just watching that to get an idea of the level of it.

Well, Carthy just did a 185cm / 6ft hook in bentonville…

There's one in his indoor setup I've seen him do measures in at 210*

*Full transparency - there's a small lip on the edge that helps grip/pop a little bit, but still...

The height he can get on those "hanging hooks" is insane. Seeing him cruise up the massive spool on its side at Barrow Farm was quite something.

To clarify: this was a normal hook. Not hanging.
