What happened to onza?

Onza moved to distribution with Moore Large and they fazed out Trials Bikes from their range due to lack of units being sold apparently. These days they focus on MTB. A shame really, the industry could do with a cheap decent gateway bike for young or first time riders

I was never really a fan of Onza, but they did a good job of producing gateway bikes at a decent price range.

That's a real shame, I know they're not the best bikes but they definitely helped kids start trials riding.

Agreed, a local shop used to have them alongside Handsome dog completes and I thought they were awesome as a kid! A £450 - £500 Street and comp bike in the hands of a talented riders all over social would be great to see but sadly production costs and unit sales are a big barrier to overcome.

Yep, totally - they're the reason I got into trials in the first place as I could afford a T-Bird, but everything else was way out of my price range. The first 6-7 years I rode trials 'properly' (i.e. not just on a rigid MTB), I was only on Onzas of various types!

All you read above is pretty correct. The main reason was for lack of sales in the entry price bracket. When producing bikes you have to sell x many to make it feasible and for maybe the last 3 years its not been possible. We fell to maybe 90% reduction in sales in about 5 years. With no competitor taking our place there wasn't a lot we could do.Maybe one day we will be back.

I bought a 2012 (i think) tyke recently, and a guy came up to me whilst i was riding yesterday and asked the same question. I remember about 4 years ago everyone my age seemed to have a T-Bird but now my little brothers friends are trying to get into it and all the starter bikes are around £500

Thanks everyone for the great response. That's properly answered my question then. Very sad news. It's definitely a bit too pricey for kids starting trials right now, hopefully the second hand market will sray strong for a while. I'm riding an onza comp at the moment I think it's one of the last bikes they made, it's made me love trials riding again.
