Marino - poor service

Hey guys, hope this wet weather isn’t getting the better of you.

just curious if anyone has had a frame from Marino this year?

I ordered a frame and fork in April, fully appreciating the covid situation and what impact that was likely to have on Marino.

but communication had been poor to say the least, they said it would take longer than usual and have a time frame of 12 weeks. I waited quite a bit longer than that before asking what was happening via email... no reply, emailed again at the beginning of September... no reply.

I took to Instagram messenger to send them a private question on the 15th of September - they did reply saying they were sorting the delivery and needed a few days (fair enough). But hadn’t heard anything, so sent them another insta message on Wednesday and had no reply.

Am I being too impatient? Finding it frustrating that they are pretty active on social media giving no indication of the delays customers are facing (or is it just me?) whilst continuing to promote orders stating they are back to full speed operation.

Any UK reps around?

Anyone else waiting on orders?

Rant over!

I don't dude, sorry. I was meaning more just churned out off the shelf aluminium frames rather than custom.

It's a real shame custom alu is nearly impossible to come by. I have 3 custom carbon builders within easy drive from me, but besides Scorpio, I don't know any custom alu frame builders that can do a street trials frame. According to Albert, Scorpio is worth it so might see what they can do in the future.  But like you said, between the Hex and the Czar 26 I'm not really wanting for much else.

Still no further with this, Marino UK have got back to me 2 weeks ago, basically saying the frame the hadn’t been built, but the tubes had been cut and it was being built ‘next week’ with pictures to follow.

Silence then followed.

Sent a pretty snotty message this morning as it’s been nearly 8 months since I paid for the order. Never ever would I have placed and order knowing it would take this long (was meant to be a bike for lockdown!)

Pretty sure in 8 months you could have mined your own iron ore, processed it into steel, drawn the tubes and welded them. That just sux. But just think of the ultra exclusive club you'll belong to when you finally own your own Marino.

I have a Marino ordered.

I sent the details for the frame & told him I would transfer him the money upon photos of the frame which I got yesterday. Paid that.

I will transfer him the money for the shipping upon receiving tracking details which I have been sent a photo of the frame boxed up with my details on and told it goes out Friday.

I have used Marino before previously & been sent items for postage cost previously so things are a bit different but hopefully the incentive helps speed things up. Unfortunately he will never change.

If it makes you feel any better I’ve got a fat chance yo eddy on it’s way from Oregon.  Similar story with those guys - meant to be 14-16 week turnaround.  Ordered it July, still waiting.... and zero communication / replies to emails for months and there’s no number you can call.  Finally in build last month. I’m working on the assumption it’ll probably take until July before it turns up at my door.  I figure they know that if they spent all their time replying to grumpy customer emails chasing them, of which I imagine there are many, they would get even less frames done. Despite this I will probably order a slim chance from them too oneday.

Do Curtis still have capability to do a trials frame does anyone know? Not on their website but I guess a phone call would answer that.
