MadManMike
Yo, I'm heading up to the Peaks later this month. Any suggestions of places to check out while I'm there? We're gonna stay up there for about 3 or 4 days...
dann2707
I'm two minutes away from the peaks. Castleton is incredible, Bakewell is also lovely for wandering around. Got a huge road trip of around the peaks if you want to go on some fun roads too.
MadManMike
Unless my new car turns up, I'll be in the automatic Golf, so this definitely isn't a driving holiday lol. We're staying in Buxton, found a nice spa hotel for £185 for 3 nights. Cheers for the tips, we'll check those places out - it's mostly a photography, food and beer trip really, just some time away
dann2707
If you find yourself heading into derby one night, there are some great bars I can hit you up with. There's a really nice street of decent pubs which I'd recommend. Just getting back might be a bit of a nightmare.
Ben Swales
When are you going, Mike? I'll put together a list of decent Peaks pubs, places and walks at some point soon, but not got time at the moment. Dan's right though - it's ace! Tom Booth
Buxton is rad, if your bored one evening head to Matlock/Matlock bath too. Especially on Sunday if you have the chance it's like motorbike city.

Fun little place is Matlock bath, it's essentially a seaside with absolutely no sea near it... 20 fish and chip shops, amusements, tearooms, seagulls?! bikes everywhere. Tis odd but a good trip out. We went up "the heights of abraham" which is a nice way to spend £
Tom Booth
Ahh man. Should've said it's only 25 mins from my house haha! Heights of Abrahams is bull. Beat thing about matlock is the promenade chippy, always the best.

MadManMike
Yeah my colleague who lives in Leicester likes to send me photos of the sign as you enter the town... He rides through on his motorbike fairly often.

MadManMike
I didn't realise it was a joke, I mean it's factual, I am warm, joyous and brown most of the year.

MadManMike
If I get my Eunos back in time, I'd be up for a pub car park meet when I'm up there - can take the mrs for dinner as an excuse
Joe Papasnap Maher
Eyam. Plague village. Hathersage. Cool rocks and stuff. Mam Tor. Nice leisurely ish walk. Usually a million paragliders flying about. Monsal trail. Hire a bike(take a bike) and walk/cycle the Monsal trail. Bakewell tart in bakewell. It's a must. Just a few alternative suggestions. MadManMike
Cheers Joe, added to the list So, who's up for a beer then? @isitafox I think is. Can do the hotel bar or a little drive out somewhere, I'm easy!
Tom Booth
Monsal trail is cool, we enjoyed bik8jg that with the dog.
isitafox
Don't know why I didn't get a notification about this! Loads of good potatography for you round here Mike, if you head to Hathersage for Stanage Edge rocks then Padley Gorge is a no brainer to walk down. Park at the top, walk down to Grindleford Station, biggest plate of chips, egg, beans, sausage, etc...... in the world ever then walk it off back up. Andrew Chai had some good shots on his bike there the other week! Brilliant dairy farm that makes and sells its own ice cream on way back out from Hathersage, usual Castleton, Mam Tor, Jacobs Ladder malarky... You'll be knackered at the end of your relaxed weekend! isitafox
Also, I know you're more a spirits man but if you want frighteningly strong local beer then this just over the road from the Palace https://www.facebook.com/TheBuxtonTapHouse/. A few nice bars and places to eat in Bucko
