Scott Gibbs
I'm looking for some feedback/opinions on a frames rear disc mount. I've seen over the years a massive change in the design of frames to accommodate rear discs. I've got a 24UK and like most riders I want to run a rear disc. that is the rear disc mount on my frame is something like an MT6 with a 180mm rotor going to destroy my frame or would it be ok? Bearing in mind I'm not a big hit kind of a rider. Or is a HS33/V brake my only option?
Mark W
With the lack of reinforcement, the really short mount and it all ending at the end of the chainstay like that I think it wouldn't do a great job at dissipating the stress you're putting through it. It might be work, but most frames I've seen like that haven't last all that long. If you want to go for longevity it might worth sticking with a rim brake. Scott Gibbs
So basically I'm screwed!
LEON
Well I wouldn't put a 205 Saint on it. If you've got rim brake mounts too at least you've got a backup. From your riding and brake description you might be alright for a little while, but the rim brake will be the long term solution.
Scott Gibbs
Maybe better keeping this one in the loft for classic status and buy a steel frame instead. Edited February 24, 2017 by Scott Gibbs
