Jack Heard
Hi guys, buying the new arcade frame and I really don't want to run the arcade crank. The only problem is I don't have a clue about cranks. Can anybody help me find a crankset? Needs to be light and a 22t also I have no idea how they fit together or what parts I need

monkeyseemonkeydo
I've been running Shimano SLX cranks on my Arcade with an Inspired Bash since the very first Arcade frames came out and have had no problems at all. Unless you're regularly doing 10 foot drops they should stand up just fine and are nice and light to boot.
Jack Heard
I was looking at buying the slx crankset but I don't know what to get to peice it all together. I literally have no idea about cranks. It's my weak point. Could you please tell me exactly what I need? Links would be a great help
Dman
Id get the race face turbines, the standard ones like ali runs would be stronger or the cinch ones like i have. Im biased but they look better than the others and if ali bends shimanos and race face are fine with him, they will last us. Do you want 170 or 175 length arms? You need cranks with a dual spider, one set of bolt holes for your 22t chainring in 64 bcd, bolt circle diameter and the other holes at 104bcd. You would also want a 68/73 bb, to suit whatever crank spindle size you get. For my crankset you would need. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/race-face-cinch-30mm-series-bottom-bracket/rp-prod113372 BB in bsa 68/73 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/race-face-cinch-direct-mount-crankset-spider/rp-prod113259 Double 104 bcd http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/race-face-turbine-cinch-direct-mount-crank-arms/rp-prod125720 Cranks in 170 or 175 You would also need a 64 bcd 22 tooth chainring. I use middleburn. And a 104 bcd bashring and bash bolts. @Jack Heard

Dman
I just remembered you will need the race face bb spanner for that bb. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/race-face-bsa-bottom-bracket-installation-tool/rp-prod144688 And a 16mm hex key to install cranks. And a shimano isis style bb tool to install the cinch spider. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/x-tools-bb-tool-isis-socket-fitting/rp-prod10177 So its expensive. gage-mann
Didn't you have a problem with a pre loader of some sort @Dman ? I'm thinking about swapping out my slx's that's all
Dman
Yes but only by landing on it and breaking it, and it wasnt in stock anywhere, its a small plastic ring it costs about £16 if you do break it, its all been fine since i refitted it all properly. If your concerned get the non cinch turbine crankset, less to go wrong.
