DrDoom
Basically guys, I'm flying down from the highlands tomorrow to pick up a car in Woolwich - I need to get the DLR from London City to Woolwich arsenal... How the hell do I pay for tickets? Everyone is saying I need an oyster card? If thats the case, where do I pick one up same day? The whole thing is confusing for a wee country lad
Danny
https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/where-to-top-up-and-buy-tickets says you can just use contactless instead and/or buy an old skool ticket?
LukasMcNeal
Yeah just using contactless is the best option. Can then use the buses too if you need and there's a daily cap on how much you can spend.
MadManMike
Another vote for contactless. Beep in, then beep out at the other end.
Pete.M
Funny, I was in the same situation a year ago - going to London to buy a car and having to full-on research the DLR
forteh
Make sure this one doesn't blow up half way up the M6
Joe Papasnap Maher
If your buying a car from Woolwich, don't expect it to have 4 wheels
DrDoom
I dont have the joys of a contactless card! Old school ticket it is then - can these be picked up at the station as per a normal railway? It's funny for us Scots huh, Pete! Cheers for the lift that evening Forteh! Hard to think that that was four years ago huh! Cheers guys Edited September 6, 2016 by DrDoom
Joe Papasnap Maher
Yep any station you'll be able to buy from. If there is a man behind a window to go him as the ticket machines are a complete faf for buying specific location tickets.
JT!
Last time I went to London I prepped and got an oyster card mailed to me. My friend didn't. It was great, spent the whole time messing with him because he had to wait in lines everywhere we went. And I was just like, swipe, done. Jolfa
You can just grab an Oyster card in pretty well any station, will cost a fiver for the card alone before you top it up but it's loads less pissing around!
DrDoom
Made it! Managed to find a machine that took cash, and drove home - boom!
LukasMcNeal
Good job you avoided the lunatics that decided have a protest on the runway!
