Mark W
I think it's just the fear thing with nose manuals. All the kids growing up riding BMX now seem good at them, I guess that's a product of pro riders focussing on them more so it become a normal thing to do. If you're OK with hitting the eject button and safely getting over your bars you're kind of set - not that it makes them easier, but you'll be more willing to get to the balance point and hold it there.
niconj
As I can't really do a rear wheel manual, I won't have to worry about the front either. Too old and too afraid. But it certainly looks good when Flipp does them on his brakeless bike. Edited July 8, 2016 by niconj
Paperclip
How wide are BMX bars compared to trials? BMX guys seem pretty good at bailing over but that could be them just stepping over the bars rather than having to do the full leap frog technique. As wide as/if not wider than trials bars for some dudes. They're usually similar width though unless you're going into mega street dude mode when you might trim them to 26/27". People are running some mega high setups now too, although I guess the lower crossbar's got to help.

I got to watch Mike Curly (someone with a similar name who rides for Animal?) and his friend that's in a few joint dvd/ video's with him riding Clitheroe and they was just so good at them, they just took a foot off and did a tactical dab. It to me is just another league from a normal manual that balance point is just way way wrong haha.
Mark W
Yeah, that's Mike Curly. Clitheroe is his local. Assuming it'd be Sam Jones as his friend? Mike Curly's got some insane nose manuals to be fair, and does some decent one-footed ones too.
AndyT
Got caught in a Vlog hole last night, watched 3 in a row. Such a treat to watch when I can't ride because of injury. loved the scenes of local color, if I did this my camera and bike would be taken from me at gun point. Ali C
thanks Andy! I'm pretty thankful of the gun laws over here, plus as long as you're doing stunts on a bike people seem to be your best friend usually...........usually.
Mark W
That said I did have someone pull a gun on me (sort of) in London when I was out riding...

I was riding with Dominik in downtown Los Angeles, and someone did an illegal u turn and almost hits me so I slammed my front wheel into his car. He jumped out of the car and we start "talking"... After some screaming he got back in car and left. little did I know Dominik was on a group ride two days earlier in Las Vegas where a similar thing happened, and the guy got out of his car with a gun to "talk". isitafox
Not watched one of these yet (no idea why, would give me something to do at work!) but enjoyed the latest vid. That manual was unbelievable, especially watching first person!

Ali C
doing Yoga mid gap is not recommended. Thanks for the well wishes though, it's only a small cut, if it wasn't for the rain I'd be out riding now!

Daviesdt
Ow! Vlog 15, that was a BIG fall! Hope you are alright dude. Whats the idea with swapping to the fourplay anyway? Most folks find something that works then stick with it, or is this a case of never know till you try?
Rusevelt
Yeah that stack onto his elbow look painful. Damn good thing Ali did land on his lower back as he was falling.
Ali C
yeah that sucked! Combination of the lower bb taking me by surprise and I think my foot stuck to the pedal slightly too. Ended up with a pretty bruised elbow, a dead leg from hitting my hip, a sore ankle again, slight lower back pain and the sorest neck muscles I've ever had! Fortunately Jane did loads of massage work and got me stretching and icing and now I'm back riding again and dropping 11ft in this weekends shows. I wanted to try the Fourplay as the grass is always greener, plus after so long on the same bike it's cool to see how other bikes ride so you can get an idea on what different geo does to the ride.
