Rusty brake rotor

100% Trials newbie.

Bought a 30 year old Aprila.

I bought the bike sight unseen, shipped to me.

The brake pads are fine but the rotors are rusted.

not 'surface'-rust that that I've seen on my road and dirt-bike rotors; much thicker.

The rear in particular seems to work poorly.

The seller assures me that this is normal.

Dunno, maybe I'm making a to-do over nothing.

Maybe strong brakes aren't expected on a trials bike.

What do you guys say.

Should I consider having the rotors turned.

I'd personally get new rotors if they are as bad as you describe. They may actually be weakened and worst case could break/fail under braking load.

I personnaly prefer rock solid brakes on my trials bike, want to know they wont slip if im balancing on something dodgy.
