Ross McArthur
So for 2016 I'll be rolling on an updated Archive. It's a touch longer, and has a tapered 150mm head tube which takes a integrated 45x45 headset. Hopefully with the longer head tube I'll not have to run as many spacers. Another difference we've encorporated in this build is the oh so slightly shorter dropouts and bigger tyre clearances. The eagle eyed forum members will spot the Marino branded headset. The forks are threaded too so they'll come with a lazer etched Marino branded top tensioner cap. Going for some classy gloss stickers to compliment the matte frame. Very subtle. Still to decide on which dropouts on the forks to run, so I'll be giving both a wee go. Your questions and thoughts are welcome. Cheers.
Dman
I prefer the look of the straight down dropouts. Edited December 1, 2015 by Dman

Ross McArthur
Glad you guys seem to like those ones. They'll bring the front wheel in 5mm or so and it'll mean the front of the wheel won't come even closer to the riders toes if X ups are their thing. I actually had bar spins in mind too....I'm my dreams. Shit pic of the stickers...

Ross McArthur
I think his scales are exclusively for coco bongo. I'll give a break down of the weights once I have it.
Ross McArthur
I think there's maybe a decimal point missing from his figures. "." Add it in wherever you fancy Seemingly I was wrong about the tapered forks having a screw ontop cap too. Only the standard forks have that, for the moment. Mikee
I like matte black with gloss black stickers. I did that on my hex. I really want a steel 24. One day......

Dman
Nah could do better with hammerite. I want to see an all chrome or translucent painted 24.
isitafox
Won't happen, I wanted mine left raw but was told it wasn't possible whatsoever so I took it to be powdercoated chrome but after 5 attempts and the paint not taking to the frame the guy gave up (said it was the first thing he's ever had that wouldn't take the paint?!). Dman
Chrome isn't powdercoat though.
isitafox
Ah you mean actual chrome, I was referring to something like this (sorry for the blurry pic!)
Ross McArthur
Yea once the frames are heat treated they loose that just welded look.
Dman
How do bmx do the translucent finish, are they not hear treated?

Paperclip
They're heat treated because of the thinner tubing or they would be pretty heavy.

That thing looks as if its going to be damn heavy anyway because it looks as though its stainless steel. Also, whats the need for the tapered headtube? Ali C
I would agree with Kenny that on a steel frame and fork tapered is overkill, it's just adding weight (even if it does look pretty). I'd deffo like tapered on ally bikes (mainly forks) though.
Ross McArthur
There's no real need for it. It's only there because Marino wanted me to try one out on a trials bike for him before he let anyone else have one
