jahbless
Looks badass... really really want to have a go on an Arcade build. How are you guys finding the new Magura brakes? any/much better than the saints or hope setups?
Shub_Step
Wow it looks beautiful! Love those rims so much! Thank you to share your specs with us, I try so hard to recognize your pedals few days ago, thought that was dmr v6 I know how to make my arcade lighter now! Nice photo! How is stem feeling? Better than a standard 70x35? Edited October 19, 2015 by Shub_Step Miss a question
Ali C
I did have some V6 pdals on, I wore down the pins (which I expected), I plan on drilling and screwing in some metal pins but I'll save that for a dark rainy day The stem is very similar, I just like how I can use fewer spacers with it.
Dman
Nice bike and picture, only think I don't like is the bash mounted behind, it looks kind of unfinished on the side you can see.
Ross McArthur
Looking good, Ali.What's happened to the chunky rear rotor? Notice any loss of stiffness with this new one?Has your putty solution held up?Ti chain ring bolts too?
Ali C
That rotor is still going strong, Magura sent us some of these new ones so I thought I'd try them out. I can't feel any flex personally. The putty is going strong I had alloy chainring bolts but I snapped two and totalled my chainring, so they're steel now......could be tempted by Ti though! alanczik
Ali Why alloy nipples?
Ali C
lighter and you can get tighter spokes with alloy nipples. I've not broken one in 6 years.
uk24
How does the frame stand up to 200mm rotors? the only reason I ask cause on tarty on a lot of the inspired frames and bikes it says that 185mm is maximum size to run without voiding warrenty? Ali C
it's been fine, no issues at all.
uk24
You going to run the hope cranks on it? they look super tidy with the inspired bash.
onzatpro09
Hope cranks don't clear the chainstays when under load on the Arcades, despite clearing while at rest. I have them on mine, but it's not ideal. I don't really want to buy a different crankset after shelling out that much on Hope kit (which might be foolish, I don't know )
Ali C
I'd love to run them so I can run the Inspired bash for them, they look so neat! it's a shame they don't quite work, I just wish Shimano had removable spiders! Ross McArthur
Is there anyway the inspired bash/sprocket set up could have been made to give more clearance? Or is the ring at it's optimal distance away from the chainstay already?
uk24
So where the cranks bash combo designed for the Alu frames only?
Ali C
I think it was more the limitations of the Hope cranks rather than designing to fit only the aluminium bikes
Mark W
Yeah, it's the relative lack of offset - they've only got around 22mm which isn't much.
AndyT
Why do you prefer 170mm cranks?
Ali C
22-16 is a little light so shorter cranks makes it have a bit more grunt plus there's the bonus of them being lighter and stronger.
AndyT
Def lighter and stronger... wouldn't 175 be "more grunt" ? About to try 22-18 (1.22-) and that's the tiniest bit heavier than my usual 18-15 (1.2); 22-16 (1.375) sounds like a "hard" gear for my slow style..you go really really fast. onzatpro09
Longer cranks = more leverage, shorter cranks = less leverage. This means shorter cranks require more "grunt" as Ali says. This slightly cancels with the light gear ratio and makes it a little nicer overall for Ali. That's how I understand it at least... *Queue crank length debate*

Different wheel size makes it feel completely different though, in the same way on a mod 18:12 feels pretty light yet is technically a harder gear ratio than the usual 18:15 on a stock. The above post is pretty accurate though. Shorter cranks make gear ratios feel a little harder, so if you feel your gear ratio is a little in-betweeny, you can try a different crank length to balance it out. If I could run a 15.5t sprocket on the rear I definitely would :p
AndyT
Ah understood... To me "more grunt" means more power, which a 175 has with the extra leverage. Did not take it to mean more grunt = feels harder. Makes sense. 22-18 w 175 this week on 26" wheels... Looking forward to going back to real cranks and off this ffw bullsh...
