MadManMike
Another odd question for TF...If I wanted to sell sealed food products at a market or event, do I need to have a food hygiene certificate?Basically, a US company is looking for a UK distributor of their hot sauces and I'm considering buying a few cases and then doing some festivals and markets to sell it.I don't want to order $$$ worth and find out I can't sell it legit. JJ Leigh
Personally I'd say you'd be better off with one even if you can get away with not having one, seems the best way. Other than that though I wouldn't know.

anzo
If you're planning to sell at festivals they'll probably insist on it. Call the event organisers?
*gentlydoesit
Sealed? So pre packaged? I'd guess my local news agent won't have a food hygiene Cert, they sell bottles of hp sause. I'd be inclined to think you'd just need any relevant retailer legalities sorted and your good.
monkeyseemonkeydo
I doubt it. You'd only need the paperwork if you were involved in preparing the food. If it's sealed retail packaging there shouldn't be a problem. Do the bottles or whatever have a tamper evident lid/seal though?
MadManMike
Yes they are retail packed, properly sealed. To be honest, I'm not sure it's a good idea anyway as there's import costs and the cost of renting stalls / stands, so I'd have to shift a hell of a lot to make it worth my time.Still running some numbers, but I'm not convinced.
