907
I'm in the process of changing over to an old Avid BB7 caliper and Odyssey SLS Linear brake cable. I thought I had tightened the ferrule well after cutting the housing, but decided to double check after bedding it in. And this is what I found. The ferrule was off, and it looks like the inner cables have slid out. I tried to push them back in, but they won't budge. I'm worried if I just trim everything back that there will be a gap on the other side, and that it might cause problems? Anyone have any suggestions for how to fix it? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
niconj
Just cut it by 1cm or will this be too short then? Using a good tool might help as well.
907
Yeah, I used a diamond wheel before which made a nice clean cut. I left some extra length just in case, so I should be fine there. But someone said they tend to do this so it shouldn't be an issue as long as it isn't coming out of the ferrule. So I might give it a try first, (I have extra ferrules) then cut it if it seems to cause any problems. Thanks for your help!
