nicolasp1405
Hey, so i'm thinking of getting some 203mm rotors for my arcade. What do you guys think? Front and rear 203mm, or just front 203mm? I'm currently using some 180mm icetech rotors with Saints. What would be the best rotors to use between those: -Shimano SLX -Magura Storm -Shimano RT76 (can only get one) -Ice Tech Anyone tried those saint trialtech pads? thinking of getting them aswell.. Cheers
Dman
Do you need the extra power? I recently tried 203 but didn't find any advantage for my riding.
Mark W
Saints with the Trialtech pads mean you could probably get away with 180mm rotors with no hassles. I do kind of like the extra security of the 203's on my bike though - it just means that even if my brake's not working particularly well you still have that inherent power to get it to lock up. I've got the Trialtech pads on the rear which are the same compound as the Saint versions and they work really well
old boy chez
I have rt 66 with clark pads and the lock on no prob. I am 6'8 13stone and they hold best discs I have ever had so if the low end shimano is good , you can bet your ass the ice stuff will be tip top... JJ Leigh
Nick i use 180's with hope's, fine for me. just change you pads and get another bleed
nicolasp1405
I was going to change since my rotors seem to have a bit of oil on them and are probably infected, so I though why not..
Filo
I uSe the trialtech pads in saints with 8in rotors on my arcade. The brakes really are amazing. I always have plenty of brake power. Well worth using.

Yeah I think I'll go with slx 203mm, I just go the trialtech pads and the adaptors for the disc.. New grips aswell (A)
Filo
The red is a really nice colour. What adapters will you use? The hope ones seem to be the nicer looking sets. Worth purchasing. Sadly the disc mount is differnt on the new frames. I brought a disc Mount, used for a week then found I had a cracked frame.

Mark W
I think he meant he cracked the old one, then his new mount wouldn't work on his new frame possibly?
Filo
As mark said, I cracked the original arcade. Same spot they all cracked. The ones that have broken. Yeah the new mount I just brought didn't work with the new frame. So I had to re order a new one. It's all sorted now and bike is rimunning amazingly. I'm loving that I got the frame kit. I can now run a 90mm stem and it's heaps better
nicolasp1405
Would you then say that it's really risky to ride 203mm rotors on the old arcade frame?
Filo
Not at all. I rode with 203 rotors for the best part of 6months. I only changed mounts when I started riding more trialsy stuff on it.
Paperclip
I found that I couldn't really tell much difference between the Shimano rotors with the spider compared to the SLX version of the rotors although if you hit the rotor side ways on and misshaped it slightly it's easier to pull out than on the spider/ice tech version. LEON
203mm will be no problem on an Arcade. Euan's done it for about 18 months with Saints.
Mark W
Filo's frame didn't crack in a way related to the disc either, as far as I know?
Paperclip
Filo's frame didn't crack in a way related to the disc either, as far as I know? I haven't heard of any problems related to the disc mounts on the Inspired frames at all, in fact the disc mounts are pleasantly well designed so 203 on one of those wouldn't be a worry for me at all. I think the older style frames are standard disc mount and the newer models are now +20 also so take different adapters depending on when you bought it. Mark W
The second batch of black frames were +20mm too (just to confuse things a little ), but Filo was an early adopter so his would definitely have been regular old IS.
Filo
Mine was the very first arcade. The cracks had nothing to do with the disc mount. It cracked on the seat tube/seat stay junction. Right at the edge of the welds.
Jay T
Does anyone know how or if Inspired are dealing with these failures. I've got the original first batch Arcade and a crack has just begun to show in the same place as the others I've seen. I really can't fault the bike at all, but I couldn't put the bike through anything like what it was intended for, and I've never run a 203mm brake. Gutted! Filo
They have re-designed the whole area. The new junction is much better looking and should be less inclined to crack. I had my bike nice and early. Mine fell well outside the warranty period.
nicolasp1405
I also have the first batch arcade and mine seems to be doing fine! For the disc I got the 203 SLX Yesterday, I installed them with some new trialtech pads. steel need to be bed in, but I can all ready feel the power!
