DanSmith
Has anyone used an avid cable disk on the rear for a 26inch? 203mm rotor. Currently using an old hope trial and it's shat :/ just wondering if it's worth spending the money on that or going for a proper job like Shimano? MartMini
bb5's and 7's are savage! generally, cable disks feel a bit pants on the rear due to the cable length. so if you got yourself a decent cable and ran it right, i cant see any problems
forteh
To dip my fly in your ointment, I briefly used a bb7 on the back of my 26" triton and it was diabolical, felt ok and bit reasonably well for a disk but absolutely zero hold. This was with a 185 rotor though as the frame won't accept any larger, the same brake in the front was and still is phenomenal. For what it's worth, I had equally dissapointing performance from a mk1 hope mini trial with the same rotor. Switched back to magura, lighter and worked better
TomPoffley
I use a BB7 on the rear of my Zoot. Get it set up right and you can have great hold and bite. The size rotor you want to use so cancel out the increase torque from bigger wheels compared to my set up. As a slightly low budget option its great! Maintainance is simple too. Big pros if you are new to trials as you can spend a long time faffing with a hydro brake and still not get as good result.
