harlequin
Hey all. I recently acquired a newish Blade (12 model) but the previous owner sprayed the tyres with tyre polish which has gone over all the brake system and rim. In turn this has created a pretty greasy rim which, although thoroughly cleaned is still not providing any grip (Mag Hs11's). I can feel that there is plenty of pressure when the lever is pulled but the rim still slips through. Are the pads contaminated and time for new ones? Herbertlemon102
You could sand down the pads, and grind/ regrind the rim. That should do it, what pads are they?
harlequin
Just 834 Mag pads. Going to hook myself up with some Heatsink yellows though. Just annoyed as these pads barely have any wear but I shall give them a sand down.
Mark W
If they're the standard pads that came on the Blade, they're not particularly great - you'll notice a massive improvement if you switch to some trials-specific pads

Mark W
I seem to remember as standard the Blade just came with either black or red Magura pads rather than upgraded ones. I can't remember if TartyBikes did the pad upgrade on them or not though - if they did, that would be the clear pads
bing
Heatsink yellows, harsh grind, win.
dngr2self
Heatsink yellows, harsh grind, win. Harsh, light or smooth. You always win with Yellows. They've gotta be the best all rounder on the market.
SamKidney
I'd argue that ADMs are a far better all rounder in terms of consistent reliable performance.
DYAKOV
I am happier with my yellows in plastic backings than my adm's in metal backings (just saying) At some point I also had a pair of unknown green pads that were just as good as the yellow heatsinks. They look the same as the rockman pands on tartybikes website but I can't say for sure.. not lgm's, it was something else! Everybody knows for themselves, but I'd also suggest using average amount of tar on your rims which will help a lot! dngr2self
Violin resin as opposed to tar is a good tip as well.
DYAKOV
If they were the ones I sent you they were rockman greens Oh that was years ago mate. But I still keep all your bits at home and will let you know if it's the same material once I have my bike with me
