niconj
Yesterday I tried to fit a RQ/Trial King into my GU stock frame and it doesn't fit really as it's too high. Now I did a little research and was thinking about the Der Kaiser Projekt. Would this one fit without cutting down the knobs. Is it as high as the Trail King in 2.4? I'd need some 2mm to make it fit. I guess two or three rides and the Trail King would fit as well as the 610 chain is new. Cheers, Nico. p.s.: Running Trialtech Sport Lite rims if that matters. ZArgrave
I had a similar problem on my echo sl frame (same stupid tail) with the proper full fat der kaiser. I just left it to rub for a week or so and then the tire cut through the frame and no its all fine

I'll see whether it fits better than the rubber queen. only need 2mm.
ZArgrave
Oh is yours that bad that it won't even turn? Saw a gu on the forum sale thread that had the end of its tail just removed lol a drastic option if you can't get your other tire in
niconj
Well... it doesn't move freely. I would need 2mm the most.
niconj
Got the Der Kaiser Rammstein and it surprisingly fits much better than the Trail King. Just one question. What inner tube would you guys recommend. The Der Kaiser is rather heavy so I'm tempted to put in a Schwalbe XX-Lite inner tube to at least have 100gr. less. Greetings
Depends on your riding but if that's a 2 ply tyre, I would consider a ~170g tube a safe minimum. The thing to bare in mind with tubes is that puncture resistance drops more quickly than weight. If you shave 50g off the tube, you might end up pinching it every ride rather than once a month. Well... I think that the Der Kaiser is one (if not the most) pinch resistant tyre, isn't it?
isitafox
I'd just run a standard 2.3 mountain bike tube. I wouldn't go superlight or heavyweight.

Doesn't matter, if you squash a thin tube it will get cut no matter how thick the tyre.
N.Wood
Also (not to be an arsehole) at your level it will make f**k all difference and after the second ride you won't even feel the difference other than having an empty puncture repair kit. I know that I'm not a very good rider and am also aware of the fact that weight isn't all but I love building up beautiful (and light) bikes even though all my bikes I've had so far outperform my riding skills by far (not only trials bikes).
