niconj
Anyone knows when this frame set will be available? Integrated brake booster AND M6 bolts. Can it get any better? Edited January 26, 2015 by niconj

Paperclip
Looks great, I think a company can use a colour another has providing they aren't out on the market at the same time, I think over the last few models the colour scheme they have used on various models have been pretty nice (apart from that brown ) Guessing that you get the mounts when buying a frame? I still don't see why they have Spanish BB and not a drop in headset. Edited January 26, 2015 by Paperclip
niconj
If you mean integrated by "drop in" then yes, it does have a drop in headset. If I don't have to wait till end of summer I'll definitely get one of those frames.
Paperclip
Yeah so technically you're going to be buying a frame that comes with Headset, BB, clamps and the bolt tensioners.

Mark W
I still don't see why they have Spanish BB and not a drop in headset. Might have been put off before by the potentially issue of an aluminium headtube deforming if someone ran an integrated headset a bit loose or something? Steel BMX frames can handle them but I suppose aluminium might be a bit more questionable.

My Echo does have an integrated headset and I don't think it's any weaker than a normal one. AND WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE. AdamR28
NEEVVEERRRR!!! Nah, the answer is 'unsure'. It's on the price list, but whether it's made yet and how long they will take to get to dealers depends on a lot of things... A few months max, hopefully? weirdoku
I swear there's no Echo frame with integrated head tube. They're all standard head tubes.
AdamR28
The Mk3s are integrated: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/search.php?keywords=echo+mk3

Mark W
So a drop in headset is a integrated one or not? My Echo does have an integrated headset and I don't think it's any weaker than a normal one. AND WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE. That kind of depends what you mean by "drop in" though - I'd assume that was integrated, where the bearings go directly into the frame without cups (as the cups are "integrated" into the head tube). If there's a cup inside the head tube then that's just an internal head tube (e.g. Onza frames).
craigjames
Looks all good, shame they're still using a downtube/bb mounted bash plate on the 20" model. Can't see the reason for it anymore, just a weak point on the downtube and surely heavier?

Paperclip
Yeah sorry to ruin your mind! Going back to what Mark said if you was worried about people running them slack you could almost make them technically press fit so they have to be fit with the same tool as the bottom bracket then anyone running a loose headset just ruins the bearings? I remember that koxx once had frames that flared/cracked around that area but they was Internal?
Mark W
They don't really have the type of bearing seats you can do that to though I suppose? If you've got a squared off bearing seat to press the bearing into then you're all good to just press away, but with a 45° seat there's no shoulder for it to butt up against so it can't really be that tight. The Koxx frames that split at the head tube took regular headsets - that was just an issue with the forging of the head tube itself if memory serves. I sold my old Purple Sky to Bow Critchley and the head tube split in transit which was an unpleasant surprise for both of us...
