niconj
Hello, I've got a very good offer on some Try All Carbon Forks with aluminum insert but am uncertain when it comes to the steerer length as it might be too short. I've had aluminum and steel steerers ending 5mm below the top of the clamp area but have always put a spacer under the top cap when it came to carbon steerers in order to fully clamp it. What do you recon? Is this too short for these forks (this steerer)? Thanks.
N.Wood
Looks fine to me.

dezmtber
You could try a shallower upper tapered ring. By the looks of the one fitted you could make up an extra mm or so. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/headset_spares/hope_07_headset_spares/c57p12177.html

gage-mann
Yea just see if a echo headset wedge would work with that top bearing that would probably get it near flush
dave33
Looks a little low. What crown race ypu using? So are lower than others.
Tonan
I manufacture carbon fiber tubing for a living, and with the aluminum insert (which I see) and the it also looks like the upper clamp bolt has a clear radial path your in the clear. Best wishes I have the same forks I picked up used and love them!
niconj
Just another question. Would it be even recommendable to run the stem that low? How does it affect riding? It's gonna be a 1090/+75/380 frame.
craigjames
I know a few people that run them at that height, in fact even lower with no stacker and have no issues. Depends on your riding style and how you like your front end to feel I guess.
N.Wood
Exactly, try it out and see how it is. No right and wrong.
