niconj
Hello, I just recently bought the above mentioned pedals and can't get the cage to stop moving. The screws seem to be tight but as soon as there's some force on the pedals I can feel the cage going down slightly. Switching the side of the pedal I have the same issue; it moves down slightly. Any suggestions or other riders with the same issues? Thanks.
craigjames
Are the holes in the cage slightly oversized when compared the bolts that secure them to the pedal body?
MartMini
sounds like the bolts could be too long and bottoming out?
Mark W
I wouldn't have thought that would be the case as I think the drilling into the pedal bodies is pretty deep. Have you tried whipping the bolts out, cleaning the threads up (both on the bolts and in the body) then tightening them back up to see if that solves it? There could be a little swarf or something inside the pedal body that might mean the bolt feels tight but hasn't actually tightened down fully.
niconj
I'll try that.
N.Wood
Try greasing the back of the bolt head so that doesn't bind and feel like it's tight when its not.
Mark W
The bolts typically have threadlock on them so I'd definitely recommend using a really well fitting allen key so you reduce the chances of rounding out the bolt head. If you're able to add a little heat to things that might help break down the threadlock too, although I wouldn't go overboard with that! I'll check and retighten them.
Mark W
Sweet Like I said, take them out and give everything a good clean and you should be good to go. If you've got something so you can give the inside of the bodies a good clean that'd be the way to go.
niconj
Hm... I guess I overtightened the bolts a little as one of the plastic washers broke and the others don't look so well either. Couldn't I just put some metal washers in between the pedal and the cage? If not, where do I get replacement plastic washers and how do I know when it is tight enough for the cage to not move and when it's too tight for the washers? isitafox
I just run mine without the washers
