SamKidney
I've not ridden in over a year now and never really had a properly good stint on a stock to gauge what I liked best tyre wise. What rear tyres are people using? I'd like something with a good compromise between weight, bounce and stability, and grip of course. Ross McArthur
The usual really, I think? On the rear; Continental DK 2.5, sometimes the projekt version which is slightly narrower at 2.4. Try all lite. Or you could opt for the tried and tested maxxis high roller or minion tyres 2.5 or if you're a slightly smaller guy, the 2.35. On the front; Continental race king world cup 2.2 is what ive been running for years and never have any problems riding street and comps. The Try all lite on the front is also a good option but dont expect it to last very long riding street as the compound is super soft and the tread is minimal to begin with. Ive seen riders use the small block 8 tryes on the front of their set ups too. Bit of a harder compoud but light enough for comp duties. ZArgrave
Same as ross really der kaiser on the rear, heavy as fook but amazing in all other areas sticks to anything and won't ever pinch.
waybe2014
How are standard tryall sticky compared to sticky lites on the rear?
Alex Dark
Sticky lites are far lighter and bouncier than their older standard counterparts. First for me on stock would be a stiky lite, then highroller sp 2.5 then a der kaiser
waybe2014
As a beginner I guess I wouldn't notice much difference. Planning on running the sticky till it's too worn then switching to the lite when I'm better.
SamKidney
Stiky Lite or a Der Kaiser seems the way forward. The builds around a pretty lightweight frame anyway, so if I can save in other areas I can justify the Conti.
aaccJosh
as a beginner myself the bumble and smash led to lots of pinchflats- Der Kaiser is the answer. Zero pinch flats in about 6 months that I've had it.
SamKidney
What about this VeeTyre WOW edition thing that Carthy etc.. have been running, anyone used one?
bing
Barry clay runs them on his crewkerz, changed a puncture for him at a comp. it seemed very light, but thin sidewalls. Really soft rubber though, looked proper grippy
