bing
Then just hammer the b*****d out I've done it before and remember it being easier than it's made out to be. Just line up and hold the extension bar as central as you can through the bottom of the fork and just wallop it until the starnut either deforms into separate pieces or comes out as one piece through the top. Scott Gibbs
Thanks for all the advice chaps. Any other pearls of wisdom?
dngr2self
If in doubt grab the biggest hammer you can find.
Scott Gibbs
If in doubt give it some clout!
Aldred_85
I've got one out by putting the screw in and hitting the sides of the screw with a hammer, kinda zig zag pattern it out.
Scott Gibbs
Is there any chainline issues I should be aware of when running a Pro2 and Hollowtech cranks?
LEON
None. Only issues will be from freewheel hubs where you have no choice where the sprocket sits. On a Hope you can go central or a good 10 - 15 mm either way.
Scott Gibbs
Cheers LEON
monkeyseemonkeydo
You just need to tweak the chainline with spacers on the freehub body. Though saying that I have had to play with the number of spacers between the frame and bb before as well for clearance.
Scott Gibbs
Is there a lot of crank spacers on Hollowtech's?
LEON
5mm max ideally, you can go 7.5 if you have to, as long as the left arm clears the frame and there's enough of the right hand bb cup in the frame.

Herbertlemon102
Don't suppose anyone is still riding a 24UK are they? could you slap a couple pictures of said frame on this thread so I can have a gander?

bing
That frame looks well solid. Get it built up lad, not seen a fully built up one of these before Edited December 28, 2014 by bing
Scott Gibbs
I've wanted one of these since 2009 but by the time I had the money they'd gone out of production. So to find one that's never been built up is a bit of a result!! Can't wait to get it built now.
Herbertlemon102
That thing looks bomb proof, I like it. Nice shape too. But- it looks quite heavy, am I correct in thinking?
Scott Gibbs
I think they were around the 2kg mark pretty much on par with the other 24s of the day. Probably a bit hefty by today's standards
Scott Gibbs
Would the rear disc mount be strong enough to take a 203mm rear disc? I'm thinking of running a set of Shiamano M395's until I can afford to get a set of Zee's/saints. Scott Gibbs
Is £135 posted a good price for a pair of Shimano M810 saints with rotors, adaptors and new pads?
SilverT97
Yeah, I take it they're second hand but as long as they're in good condition that's definitely a good price. I paid near enough double for my M820's and rotors from ChainReaction. Edited January 12, 2015 by SilverT97
Scott Gibbs
Yeah they're second hand but there's not a mark on them. Do you think the 203mm rotors will be too much?
bing
Noooo. Perfect street brake combo Edited January 12, 2015 by bing
SilverT97
Well i have 180mm rotors on my fourplay and they're a very powerful combination, but I've never personally had 203's before so i couldn't comment on whether it would make a noticeable difference. Either way i personally prefer the look of bigger rotors anyway...
Scott Gibbs
You reckon 203's Bing?
