Inspired hex question

I ran a 47mm rim in the back of mine for a ride or two as it was all I had at the time of the build, but it required Tensile offset mounts which slipped like hell and the thinnest slivers of pad you can imagine. Not worth the hassle at all unless you have those bits knocking about in the spares box.

It does depend partially on how old the frame is - I seem to remember that some of the earlier aftermarket frames came with slightly wider mount spacing compared to the standard frame... If you've got the frame already though, it'd be worth measuring the brake mount spacing and comparing it to the measurement/advice on the TartyBikes page (Y)

On my old hex I found that the tryall washer less mounts gave the best pad clearance while still being decent. I'm not a fan of the offset mounts. I ran a tryall 47-48mm rim for a month no problems (Obviously without brand spanking new pads).

You have a pair of good options though for any rider with a 36 or 32h hub you can buy a viz or echo rear rim that are about 44mm wide and that was perfect on my build before I changed frame.

Technically it's disc only, all the logos run onto where your pads would be too. But that part of the rim is pretty flat so it should work no problem, I'm sure Ali did it once.

But like Bing said, DMR Backlines are great, 35mm too and pretty bombproof, and with a proper braking surface.
