N.Wood
Hello all. I am currently running folding Mountain Kings front and rear, the front being a Supersonic handmade original tread pattern one, the rear being a cheaper harder compound in the 'mk2' pattern. I usually ride places with lots of gravel and rock rather than particularly muddy places. I don't ride huge miles so I'm not bothered about tread wear, but whats the grippiest compound and best tread pattern for this kinda riding? I'd guess around the 2.2" mark is a good size. Not too bothered about brand or price for the minute, just needs to be fairly light and definitely folding bead. Thanks!
dezmtber
Schwalbe rock razor on the rear is very fast on trail centres but awful if its loose muddy trails

N.Wood
I ended up buying an Onza Ibex 2.25 55a and 2 shwalbe nobby nics. Run a nobby nic out back and the onza on the front. Can't fault the Onza, great tyre.
Tom Booth
O loved nobby nics till I swapped to wtb vigilantes and realised just how slack the schwalbes where. I love the wtb, just quite a heavy combo.
bing
I got mountain kings off ogre through halfrauds, at £10.81 each. Wish I hadn't bothered. They are shit. No grip, vague feeling on the front and two punctures in two rides. Gone back to the moto diggers, never had any trouble with them, and they are well grippy
trialsbikingnunn
Nobby nicks are shit cos the compound is too hard and doesn't have much grip, so I swapped to maxxis minions and they are awesome tyres
N.Wood
Which compound were you using? They have many. Mine is ok out the back, much more grippy than a conti mountain king 2, but good if you want the back end to get loose.
bing
I don't know, just standard compound I think. They are gash what ever it is
