isitafox
Before anyone starts I know I should really ring Tarty to confirm but it's Sunday night so there's no chance and I want to start (and hopefully finish) this job tonight. Got some spokes through for two wheelbuilds and had a look at the length info on the supplied sheet, front looks correct (I assume) but the rear seems odd to me. The hub in question is a 135mm Tryall H and the spoke info states the same length spokes for each side though the drive side flange spacing is almost 1/4" bigger than the non drive side (measuring to the outside edge of the hub). Surely the distance between the flange and the centre/outside edge of the hub needs to be the same both sides to use the same size spokes or am I missing something? I've no doubt Tarty have sent me the correct bits I just wondered how it worked out this way??
LEON
If it's symmetrical both sides like a Pro2 trials with identical flanges then yeah, the spokes SHOULD all be the same. Edited November 9, 2014 by LEON
isitafox
Yeah the flanges are the same size just different offsets so surely the rim would end up off centred? (I know I can dish it myself just semmed weird)
LEON
Try and find out how far off they are, I've built plenty of wheels with the wrong spokes, but no one likes spokes going through the rim tape.
isitafox
There's no chance of that as they're going on Echo SL rims with the massive gap, I just found it a bit bizarre.
dezmtber
Should be fine Dave, I used same size spokes on my hope pro 2 mtb hub the offsets are a long way from being the same. The spoke calculator came up with 1mm difference but I wanted to buy one pack of spokes. Worked fine.
AdamR28
1/4" difference in offset makes bugger all difference to spoke length (I was off Friday but I always build that hub with same spokes both sides).
isitafox
Ah right just looked odd! Front is done, just need to tension up the rear!
isitafox
Rear also now finished, bit of a nightmare dishing it but should be ok now!
AdamR28
bit of a nightmare dishing it but should be ok now! Hmm, how come?
isitafox
Driveside spokes were well through the nipples and getting tight and the stand was slightly out so I had to measure it with a crappy plastic ruler!
