paulleahy
Hi,I realise this may be a frequently asked question however here it comes...my 11yr old son is mad keen on cycling in general and definitely swings towards mtb but all he talks about is Danny mac and trials. So the question what's a good beginner bike for him to learn on? He is approx 145cm. Thanks in advance!☺
Rowlly21
Depends on what type of riding he would like to do, But if he was a pure trials man the onza rip I have for sale is a perfect begginers bike Andrew
isitafox
Have to agree, if he's into trials then a good starter is a 20" Onza. Perfect to learn the basics on and should be easy enough to sell on without losing too much money.
paulleahy
Thanks, he is definitely insistent on trials (he is going to smash his mtb up trying) and obviously I have to support /push him along in his decisions...He has skills I would love and to be honest a level of no fear that is frightening lol. isitafox
Might be worth giving the guys at Tartybikes a ring for some advice. They're the UK's (and possibly worlds) top biketrials specialist shop and always happy to help newcomers to the sport!
Rowlly21
Hi Paul, I have a for sale ad on this forum, I am not sure if you can view it yet so you will have to wait until you are validated. thanks Andrew
Jake.
JJ Leigh has an inspired now and rode an onza mod for a few years, doesn't look like it held him back from doing inspired type moves at all other than manuals.
jnthebiker
Have you looked at the old Montys that are around everywhere? Super good deals all over the place, they're heavy but the best possible bike to start on, at least in my opinion. I started on a Monty 219 X-Hydra, then moved to a Monty Alp Magura, now I ride a stock. Edited January 23, 2015 by jnthebiker
