The TF Track Day Thread

On that subject... ideally everyone will need to be around for half 8 ish. There will be some organising to do before we get cracking at 9. It's a pretty random little place to find, I strongly recommend using the following instructions as I got totally lost using a sat nav when I went: http://user28967.vs.easily.co.uk/location-of-curborough-sprint-course/

Here it is on Google Maps: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?daddr=Wood+End+Ln&hl=en&ll=52.713588,-1.80562&spn=0.011413,0.033023&sll=51.486728,-2.582474&sspn=0.187704,0.528374&geocode=FRVaJAMdfYPk_w&mra=mr&t=m&z=16

Don't forget Birmingham rush hour traffic when calculating your travel times!

It's easiest to come off the A38, don't head into lichfield first unless you like driving down 1.5 car width lanes with blind 90° bends :D

edit1: Those coming up from the M5 consider jumping off onto the M6 south J8 and then getting off the M6 at Great Barr at J7, take the A34 for 1/2 mile and then the Quesslett Road towards Sutton Coldfield and then onwards to Lichfield/Curborough. It avoids the M42 entirely so potentially a great deal of traffic jam, it will be busy around Great Barr and possibly through Sutton but you have more options for routing around accidents.

When you get to the end of the Queslett Road (island with a shell garage on your left) you can take the Chester Road A452 left towards Brownhills and then take back lanes through Stonnall>Lynn>Shenstone to cut out more main road traffic. Once past Shenstone you can jump directly onto the A38 north towards Burton/Derby and come off at the Fradley Park junction to get to the sprint track.

edit2: From the northwest head down the M6 to Stafford north, take the A34 past MoD Stafford/Beaconside Staffordshire Uni campus, take the A518 to Weston and then the A51 through Rugeley and then A515 to get the track from the other side.

I live for this shit!

Mike - any of the services around Bristol would work really. For an early start I'll likely try and head up to Malvern or something the night before though.

Me, but having 4 brand new EfficientGrips on means I won't be deliberately wearing them out.

I've got a few 4x100 wheels with old 195/50r15's on them, I may well be able to chuck a couple in if you wanted? 6:30/7ish at Michael Wood sounds good to me.

Luke, I've sent some money across.

If you have space that would be cool, I'm not looking to abuse the car too much though so don't worry if it's a hassle.

See you at the services then! :)

Works for me (Y)

Have received cash from Robin, Pete, Dan and Chris plus my own so halfway there on that front. If the others could get the funds for me when able so it's all accounted for that'd be spot on.That way I can just bring the wedge of cash on the day to hand over as a complete lot. If we end up with anyone else present then I'll obviously give you each back the £5/10 difference accordingly :)

Reet then, that's all booked. He mentioned times as 10-1 and 2-5, so I assume that's to ensure noise limits aren't broken, but I think with a load of road cars we should be alright to sneak a bit extra at lunch and the start of the day... I'll do another thread with final details and a list of attendees :)

Paid.

I'll be driving up in the morning, and probably find a place to stay for the night, so if people fancy food and chilled beverages I could definitely be interested.
