isitafox
As above, anyone single walled an Echo SL rim before and got pics of it? The specific rims I own are the ones with the offset holes in so I'm not sure if it would work or not, it's not the end of the world if I can't but thought I might give it a go! SamKidney
Would be interesting given how deeply set the outer wall is compared to the inner.
wilf
This is the only one I've seen thats been done. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/186601-high-spec-fans-20-full-bike/
isitafox
Would be interesting given how deeply set the outer wall is compared to the inner. Yeah that's what's holding me back This is the only one I've seen thats been done. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/186601-high-spec-fans-20-full-bike/ Yet this is what interests me in it. I think the rear is supposed to be something like 760g which is pretty heavyweight but I know they'll hold a grind so well compared to the Neons I have. jigga
are u talking about 20" or 26"? Ive double drilled the old style 26" ones which had a hole in the inner skin drilled under the spoke hole. i drilled out the inner skin in the space where it had been cnc'd out between each spoke. it worked well with a holesaw and saved about 90g per wheel. Always thought it would be cool to single wall them but not sure it would work and my spokes were a little too long.
isitafox
26", yeah these are the ones where the holes in the inner wall and the outer wall alternate.
Filo
I don't think it'll work. There's to much hight from the side wall. The echo tr rims Hold a grind just as good. There more like a standard rim height. Might be worth skinning that rim. Just drill holes through the inner wall on the SL rim Edited October 22, 2014 by Filo
jigga
Filo, do u mean the tube would have too much space to fill as the inner wall is so far in? im following this thread as its something uvw considered doing but wasnt 100% it was gonna go well. Ross McArthur
Always thought it would be cool to single wall them but not sure it would work and my spokes were a little too long. Dont you file your spokes if they stick though the top of the nipple so they're flush?
Filo
It's not the volume the tube would fill. I think the ERD of the rim being smaller that the rim wouldn't hold up as good. The sidewall might become really flexy aswell
