Clerictgm mk2
So, i'm buying new frameset and I want to just ride a little (no more than 50km at one ride) on this bike and want to prepare it. 24T with Saint/Deore/XT/SLX cranks would fit this frames? I think 24-12/17 with rear mech (Shimano Dura Ace) would be OK. And about seatptost, how deep I must set it not to damage frame by weight of my arse: 150mm? 200mm? With 22/12 and without ability to seat I can commute comfy for ~25km on my fourplay. So if gearing would be harder and I would be able to seat I think I can go to 100km+ for one ride without any pain. But 100 is too much, i'm not planning to ride more than 50km, it's I think the maximum distance I would ride on this bike at one ride. So the real numbers would be ~15-40km + riding street-trials. FamilyBiker
dont know why anone would do that nowadays, but for the seatpost thing:at least 3 times the diameter or 1/5 of its length, whatever is more. i'll build my own transport trailer for my commuter where i can put my trials bike and ride around at full speed. wouldnt that be a better idea for you? MartMini
or even something like those child bars, so you could pull the trials bike behind you?
Clerictgm mk2
I like the control of street bike and ability to do stuff on the run. And I don't need a commuter/XC/DH/FR bike, I sold'em all. Edited October 15, 2014 by Clerictgm mk2
MartMini
your getting a street bike, putting a full range of gears on it, long seatpost. Your basically turning a trials bike into a commuter
