N.Wood
Anyone got any opinions on the carbon 456?
TOMTRIALS123
Very good bikes, just don't crash them as you cant repair them very easily

N.Wood
Well it was a sunday and cider was involved and you know how it is. Anyway, I was after a 'hardcore xc' build and this one fitted the bill. I actually told the dude this morn that I bidded wrongly and was up for paying for him to relist it, but i've now had a good scout around and can't find anything better so just told him i'll probably come and collect it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111474340884?_trksid=p2059210.m2748.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Tom Booth
I can't comment on the carbon side of things but my steel 456 is superb, love that thing to bits
N.Wood
What do you reckon to the spec for the price Tom? Will just be used for the odd trail centre and razzing about with my missus.
CurtisRider
You would struggle to beat that spec for the price assuming it all is as good as it looks, I'd go for it
N.Wood
I asked him for a full run down which he has done and described everything pretty thoroughly. Seems genuine, works for rolls royce, so just paid the $$$ and will meet him this week. Thanks!
Tom Booth
Spec looks good for the money, only thing I'd question is the formula brake, only because I don't know anything about them or anyone that uses them. I wanted £450 for my steel 456 so I'd say you got yourself a good buy!
N.Wood
Yeah they're magnesium and pretty light, but not sure how well they work. Brakes are one thing I do know about, so I'm happy to upgrade
craigjames
The formula brakes can be a littel hit and miss, also expensive to sort if they do go wrong. I'd say it's the only weak link in that build; bloody bargain really! I've been considering the 456 Evo frame, look like bargains really. Let us know how you get on with it. Jake.
Well I got drunk and bought 10 reading tickets. Wish I got bikes instead.
N.Wood
Turns out it's a beaut! Lighter than I wasexpecting, fits pretty well with a long seatpost and is in pretty immaculate nick. Brakes are pretty low on power (160mm front, 140mm rear) but thats about the only thing I can see I'll wanna change soon.
monkeyseemonkeydo
On the back of this I just accidentally a 456 Evo to put all my Meta parts onto... damn you temptation, damn you.

N.Wood
Very much enjoyed my maiden voyage, brakes and front mech were the only things that let it down, both of which arrived at my desk this morning.

N.Wood
I will keep it in mind, but the point is I know I won't use it a lot so I didn't spend a bunch of money on it. I used to have an Intense 5.5 with CCDB shock with ti spring and all the other bells and whistles but it was a lot of money to sit in the garage and was over biked for the riding I do.
